“Great 3-Star on a Budget”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed February 17, 2013

We stayed at the Hotel Cloister Inn during our visit to Prague in August 2012. The hotel is in an excellent location, allowing us to walk everywhere to everywhere we wanted to see with ease.

The room was much larger than we expected and the beds were more comfortable than most we've experienced in Europe. And the bathroom was ENORMOUS!

For a 3-star hotel, we were pleasantly surprised with the size, cleanliness and comfort of our accommodations and would stay there again in a heartbeat!

The only glitch was when we asked for ice and was told the machine was broken. Since it was the middle of the summer, it was a bit disappointing not to be able to have ice for drinks in our room as this would seem a modest and reasonable request.

This is a simple, no frills (i.e. minimal amenities), kind of place, but it's clean, centrally located, and comfortable - so if you're just looking for somewhere comfortable to rest your head after a long day of sightseeing, look no further!

We stayed in this delightful hotel in early February for 4 nights. The location is perfect. It is just 5 minutes walk from The Old Town Square and from the Charles Bridge. Reception is spacious and friendly but somewhat clinical. There is every effort to help but you feel that it is is auto response from a distance. There is complimentary tea and coffee in reception as well as free computer access. The bedrooms are spacious and functional. Our bed was wide but too hard. Why do double beds have two separate duvets? The breakfast room was spacious and airy and provided a very adequate and plentiful breakfast. The cold plates were more than adequate but the hot options were very limited and unimaginative. - beans and hot-dog sausages. We would however return without hesitation.

This is the nicest hotel we have ever stayed in.

The welcome is warm and all staff, especially reception, speak great English. All staff were very friendly and helpful.

The location is perfect, you only have to walk a couple of minutes (turn right as you walk out) and you come to lots of cafes, restaurants and bars. Walk a bit further and you start coming across shops. About a 10-15 min walk gets you to where the Christmas markets etc are held. If you turn left as you leave the hotel you get to St Charles Bridge etc. The Castle is probably about 20/30 min walk/stroll in this direction.

Our room was, I think, on the fifth floor (there is a lift) at the front of the hotel. It was a lovely big room with a very big and light bathroom.
The beds and the pillows are the type you sink into (which I had never actually experienced until our stay here, now I know why it is so appealing!) We slept very soundly. It was very quiet also, no noise disturbing your sleep. My husband said it was the best night sleep he ever had! The rooms were absolutely spotless. The shower was also top - powerful and hot.

The breakfast was very adequate and tasty (a mix of cereals, eggs, fruit, toast, yogurt etc and some more Czech type-breakfast-meats - ham and the like). You help yourself and levels were constantly being monitored so nothing ever ran out.

The reception area is relaxing with free tea (with powdered milk), herbal teas and coffees available all the time. They also have a computer here (and free wifi also) where you can access internet for free. We printed our board passes here the day before we left, they get printed at reception for you. This was really helpful. They also have a separate TV room and a room to store luggage.

We're hoping to go back to Prague in the Summer one day and we will definitely be staying here again.

We stayed at the Cloister Inn over New Year and we couldn't have chosen a better place to stay - ideally located for the Charles Bridge and the old town yet in a quiet area. Our room was in the roof and was very spacious and nicely decorated, with a seating area and good sized bathroom. A couple of things to note - the room had two steps up to the bathroom and seating area which I thought was a hazard. Also the mirror in the bathroom was a little too high if you are under 5' 3" and using the magnifier was out of the question without standing on tiptoe! Great idea that other hotels could adopt is the free tea and coffee in the public area as well as a machine to buy cold drinks and snacks. The staff were friendly and helpful and recommended restaurants to us by email before we arrived. We would certainly stay at the Cloister again.
