“Clean hotel, close to center, great staff”
Reviewed September 5, 2012

This is a pretty basic but comfortable hotel. It is clean, well located, has a decent breakfast and has very friendly staff. Room size was pretty good. Amenities can be better - but you are not paying for a 5* hotel, thus really shouldn't be expecting the full comfort of one.

This hotel is a kind of "mom and pop" place. Very clean but old styling. Needs an upgrade. The service was good and professional just not the friendliest I've ever seen. Don't get me wrong, they get everything done, just not as polite as I expected. Kinda cold. On a good note, they are close to most everything!!!

very nice good location price was fair whats not to like? It's Prague and everyman's a king! This place is in very close proximity too the astronomical clock and Old Prague square but also a little off the beaten path so it is quieter at night

We booked a BA break and The Cloister Inn was one of many hotels offered. The price of the break was £250 which included the flights and breakfast. Bearing this in mind our expectations were not high. The hotel is in two parts. We stayed in the old building and can only comment on our rooms ( we had two), which were on the third floor were clean, airy, and large. The old part of the building and the new part are only connected on the second floor, so it is quite a trek from reception, but we thought it was worth it. Both rooms had air conditioning, and as well as beds, chests of drawer, chairs and wardrobe with a small safe deposit box ( just big enough for IPad), a sofa, a coffee table, a fridge, flat screen TV, and an suite with a shower. The pillows were the most comfortable we have ever found in hotels across the world. Having said that do not expect luxury. The furniture and furnishings are basic but all you need for a comfortable stay. The hotel is minutes walk from all the main attractions in Prague and very close to the river. It is in a quiet back street perfect for a good night's sleep after a tiring day. The breakfast was continental style with hot sausages, beans and hard boiled eggs. There was cereal, fruit, yoghourt, pastries, salad, etc., enough to choose from. The breakfast room staff were friendly, breakfast was served until 10.30 am, and the staff were happy for people to come in at that time. All the reception staff and porters were particularly helpful but I would have to mention the blonde haired porter who had brilliant English and for whom nothing was too much trouble. I am sorry I do not have his name.. Prague is a beautiful but busy city. The Cloisters hotel is not luxury, it is a bed and breakfast hotel and pretty basic but it was quiet and peaceful and if we go back to Prague we would definitely stay there again. Beware of the ridiculously expensive boats trips. We took one for two hours. It was boring, there was no commentary, and we seemed to spend as much time in the lock as on the river. The boat was used as a dinner cruise boat in the evening and the staff were busy preparing for their evening guests, laying out food etc., We felt we paid through the nose to give staff time to prepare for their evening guests.

Room Tip: The rooms on the third floor in the old building were spacious and comfortable.

We stayed four nights at the Hotel Cloister Inn in early August. The hotel, though slightly worn around the edges, was clean, quiet and comfortable, and the location is excellent. The breakfast was substantial, the staff were friendly and completely conversant in English, and the air-conditioning really cranked! I would stay there again.

Stayed for a few days in May. Large room, with a bathroom very separate from bedroom, large windows which fully opened. CLEAN. Breakfast was fine - eggs, sausage, beans, breads, cereals, some fruit. Staff were friendly and spoke English ("of course"). Secure also, quiet street just a couple minutes from central areas - easy to walk anywhere. Good restaurants nearby. Free wifi. Really liked it!

This hotel is like a youth hostel compared to the 3 star K&K hotel we stayed at the week before!
Bed so small and sooo uncomforatble. Bedroom so small that we couldn't both get changed at the same time to go out - one of us had to sit on the bed! I am only a size 8 but I had to turn sideways to squeeze between the wooden end of the bed and the wardrobe and kept hitting my knee on the bedframe. Just not good enough in any way, shape or form - apart from location was fine. Really don't know how this hotel gets a 3 plus star rating??? Just don't stay here!

Room Tip: I guess you have to ask if thet have any rooms that are larger than broom cupboards! Having now s...

Hello!! Thank you for your comment what gives me a chance to explain this issue in closer detail. The Cloister Inn Hotel was built in 1999 from a building what used to be a convent - so it has the basic structure as an accommodation facility, later Police station for Prague 1 - again the original cells converted into offices and as such it was not so difficult to convert it again into a hotel. As this was a reconstruction of an existing building in the Old Town, we had to follow rules and policies of the Monumental Office and we couldn´t, even though we had wished so, make all rooms same size like all newly built hotels usually have. So we have some rooms bigger, some smaller - this is the reality and we cannot do anything else about it. The 3* Plus means, according to standards of the Hotel Association, the air-condition in all rooms, the minibar with my greetings to all guests arriving with a beer and waters and free tea and coffee in the lobby. I am sorry you had so much troubles with your room and I apologize for it. Thank you. Jiri Vidim - owner
