“Cheap and clean but definitely no 3 star”
Reviewed February 26, 2012

I booked this hotel as the base for a 3 night/2 day weekend in Prague based purely on the price, and I got what I paid for. It's a short bus and tube ride from the centre or a tram ride from the old town, but the price reflects this. Having said that the public transport in Prague is amazing so it didn't really matter...

A very basic hotel, our small, shabby room had peeling paint but the linen and towels were clean. The TV didn't work and the radiator only worked on high, but we only wanted somewhere to rest our heads after a day of sightseeing so it didn't matter. The hotel was completely full (even In February) so there was extremely limited hot water in the morning, but loads at night so that's when we showered. No hairdryer or tea making facilities, truly a basic package for a basic price.

Breakfast was fine if you like bread, cheese, meat and boiled eggs, which lots of people did, but the small dining room was so crowded and the meal uninviting so we chose to make the most of the cafe society in Prague and eat out instead as everywhere is reasonably priced and everyone speaks great English.

Overall this is the perfect hotel for less than £70 (3 nights for 2 people, with breakfast) but don't expect 5* service!

Room Tip: Rooms on the 5th floor (top) are next to the boiler so are warm.

Stayed there for one night. Room was ok, bathroom small but clean (towels included), small tv with only few stations (some czech, german and russian), air con, and i think there was also safe. I got room for two even i was alone so i got a lot of spce in bed which was comfy. Breakfast (incl in price) was simple but tasty and you could eat as much as you could. In lobby there is free wifi but you have to ask for password at reception.

The best hotel ever. The room was clean, comfortable and nice...The place where the hotel stands is very quiet (even though there are not too many lights), but full of opportunities to travel by trams, buses and to eat cheap and tasty food.
The hotel staff is exceptional, very friendly, nice and informative and they speak English well.
Breakfast is excellent. It is well organized, everything is tasty and is always filled with new food.
I totally recommend this hotel for everybody, who wants to discover Prague! It is cheap and nice!

We stayed at this hotel for 3 nights in September. The staff were helpful, some spoke better English than others. The room we stayed in was ok but had 2 single beds pushed together rather than a double. The bathroom needed a bit of sorting out, The ceiling was damp and cracked above the shower which had no cubical, just a shower head attached to the wall at waist level which meant the whole bathroom got soaked. Everything was clean and we did have our towels changed and fresh bedding once during our stay. The TV only had German channels..but hey, we didn't go there to watch TV. We only had breakfast 1 out of the 3 mornings, It was very basic, some cold meat, some bread, sweet pastries and yogurt. The beds are comfy and the area seems quiet and safe to walk around at night and the reception is staffed all night. Overall i would say the hotel is good value for money and close to public transport to get into the city in about 15 minutes. thumbs up!

warm reception from friendly approachable staff, who spent time explaining buses/trams and wrote down the stops we needed for our return;
good, relevant, general advice, which enhanced the outings we ourselves had planned;
comfortable, clean, tidy room;
good, powerful shower;
quiet setting yet only 10 mins by bus from town centre;
plenty to eat and good variety to choose from at breakfast, regularly and promptly replenished

Room Tip: lift to all floors

Very friendly staff who are full of suggestions for local visits. Plenty of advice regarding transport and help with pronunciation of names/bus & tram stops.

Light buffet breakfast but can recommend nearby shops for topping up your supplies for the day.

Corridors can smell smokey but rooms very comfortable and do not smell of smoke.

We were in Prague for 4 days and saw lots. Think 3 days would have been enough and be prepared to walk as the streets are clean & attractions well sign posted.

Easy to get to town centre from the hotel by either bus (number 133 from Cerninova to Nam. Republiky) or tram (number 9 from Biskupcova). Tickets for both can be bought from reception but remember to validate when you board as there are undercover ticket inspectors lurking on public transport!

Plenty of places for meals in town but we also tried the pizza place on Jeseniova near the hotel - well priced and has free wi-fi too.

The hotel organised our return taxi for us and always had a smile.

Would happily go back and recommend!
