Considering the price and the star rating I was expecting more. Location is good, but hotel is old and somewhat crumbling.

I stayed 4 days in Prague and liked the Ariston Hotel very much. The staff at the reception is very friendly and willing to help wherever they can, they speek a lot of languages too :-)) the first 3 nights I spent in a 3 star room, which was very quiet, beds where good too. The last night was in a 4 star room, which was even nicer- Great service for a great value in perfect location: walkable distance to the busterminal, trainstation and to the old town, where you can also get by tram in about 10 minutes. I´ll be back for sure!

We booked with a travel agency as we did not know anything about our destinations of Budapest, Vienna and Prague. Our first two hotels were amazing and then we got to Prague and were greeted by the dark, dank stiffling lobby of the Hotel Ariston. We arrived in late afternoon and thought that we were certainly in the wrong place. The hotel is situated two street car stops from the train station in the wrong direction. We first saw grafitti on the block near the hotel which was the words "F--- You!" in 5 foot letters. Then we were directed to our room (no offer to assist with luggage) which was at the front of the hotel and since there is no air-conditioning we had to open the windows to the street where the street car goes by all night long. When we realized that we could not possibly change hotels we asked to be moved to another room which they reluctantly did and then we were on a lower floor that was cooler and much quieter. The rooms are dark and the drapes are heavy and dusty and the layout was awkward. They charge for use of the in room safe 5 euro per day for a safe that is already installed in the room and costs nothing to operate. There was limited wi-fi available in the lobby which was most unpleasant and decorated with mismatched ratty furniture. Breakfast was bland and had no variety day to day and the staff were cold and dissaffected. It was not a pleasant place to return to, especially late at night. There are no showers in the rooms (tub with hand held) only. This was the type of accomodation I would have expected if we had booked a 2 star hotel but we paid substantially more to avoid these types of things. Needless to say we would not return to this hotel and found that there were other "4 Star" hotels in Prague that were equally misrepresented. Traveler beware that the beauty of Prague may be overshadowed by disappointing hotels.

Dear client,

Thank you for your review. We consider unfair to compare stay in hotel which charges 240-300EUR per room, like the one in which you have stayed in Vienna, with stay athotel that charges 60-70 EUR per room. Hotel Ariston is very popular tourist hotel, well equipped for short term stays, and located in center of the town, which we believe all together present good value for the money.
We regret that your stay did not meet your expectations, although the majority of our clients are satisfied with price and comfort level of the hotel.

Best regards,

Hotel Management

The location was good, very close to a tram stop and about 20 minutes walk from the city center. The front desk staff was very friendly and helpful. Breakfast was very good. The negatives were the actual room and amenities. The room was stuffy with no air conditioning and the bed was saggy and uncomfortable. There was an extra charge for wireless internet and the room safe. The charge wasn't excessive, but inconvenient as you had to go back to the front desk to get passwords.

Dear client,

Thank you for your review. We can assure you that the usual weather in Prague, during the beginning of May, is very suitable for stay. Unfortunately this May was whole Czech Republic affected by extreme temperatures, which made the stay inconvenient for all Prague visitors.

Best regards,

Just spent 2 days in Prague with a group from Canada... the Ariston was our "base camp" and it was perfect: value for your money, great breakfast buffet, wonderful staff - super helpful front desk and the location is good - 15 min walk to the Old Town Square or a 5 min tram ride.. and quiet enough location to get a good night sleep ... the rooms are comfortable and clean - and one has to keep of course perspective with the cost / standard ratio ... some people seem to expect luxury no matter how much they pay .....
So all in all, a great spot for a Prague visit ..... and I will certainly be happy to stay there again.

Room Tip: It is a fairly large hotel - so there must be quite a selection - some newer, some older ...

We stayed at this hotel in November 2011 and it was our first visit to Prague. Hotel is 10 minutes walk from the center of the city, nice location. Came by car, and it was very important for us that hotel has a parking place, and it has, but we had to pay for this service 18euros per day. Internet access was also charged - 10euros per 24h,which by our opinion is silly but we needed it. Room was clean and it was the best thing during our stay in the hotel. And yes - the room had a safe but guess what - you have to pay for using it!!!
Breakfast was so poor, and the restaurant where we had breakfast used to was some kind of a small opera hall or something, and all they did is that they put some very old chairs and tables inside and made a "restaurant" of it, I had a feeling like we are having breakfast in some basement, very dark and ugly. And, from Ariston Patio you have to cross the street which is very traffic-busy and to have breakfast in Ariston.
Stuff was not very friendly, one of them only spoke English well.
So, any additional service you have to pay, and by not so reasonable price.
Sleeping quality was good because luckily we had a room which was not on the side of the main street.
But also, we had no enough time to spend it in hotel, which was good, and Prague is a beautiful city but very dirty and also - domestic people - totally unfriendly and impolite, or better - horrible!

Room Tip: Ask for room which does not have a street view (quieter ones)
