Having braved the crowds at Stare Mesto, the Charles Bridge and the Prague Castle during our first few days in Prague, we decided to visit Letna Park for a change of pace. Sitting on a bluff above the Vltava River, Letna Park offers refreshing greenery as well as mesmerizing views of the river and the Old Town on the opposite bank. Although we encountered a few tourists, most of the other park visitors appeared to be locals who were meeting friends, walking their dogs, or simply out for a stroll or a beer. We watched with amusement as a group of young children learned to ride bicycles. At the far end of the park, we joined the local patrons in the beer garden for an excellent pilsner, which we drank while basking in the late afternoon sun and absorbing the views.
