Owner description: Prague Zoological Garden is situated near the center of the Czech capital, in a unique rugged landscape on the bank of the Vltava River. It opened in 1931 and during its existence of more than 80 years it has risen to become one of the most prestigious zoos in the world. Today, it is the second most visited tourist destination in the Czech Republic, just after Prague Castle. 4,600 animals and 680 species live in Prague Zoo. You can explore 12 pavilions and 150 exhibits over 58 hectares. The kids will love the Bororo Reserve, chairlift, mini-train, observation tower, paddling pool and Children’s Zoo. The pride of the zoo is its Elephant Valley, home to a sizeable herd of Asian elephants. The Giant Salamander House, where you can see the largest amphibians in the world – the critically endangered Chinese Giant Salamanders – is extraordinary as well; and the African House with an adjacent vast meadow inhabited by herds of antelopes and giraffes is worth your attention, too. However, Prague Zoo also has other interesting places: for instance, the Pavilion of Gorillas with the only breeding family of gorillas in the Czech Republic; Chambal, presenting one of the most endangered species of crocodiles in the world – gharials; or the Indonesian Jungle Pavilion, a giant greenhouse presenting a sample of the South Asian rainforest and its inhabitants.

So much to see and very clean. Easy to access by the bus system. My kids love zoos and this one did not disappoint!

We visited New year so it was very cold and not all the animals were around, but the ones that were out and about were very pleasing. especially the gorillas complete with baby. We spent about four hours here but on a nice day you could spend much longer, children will love it. price is very reasonable compared to uk zoos. It suffered really badly in the floods a few years ago and there are pictures and reminders dotted around to show this, which makes this places comeback even more remarkable. we used public transport from Prague again so cheap and easy to find. Door to door.

We loved this place. On initial inspection it looked as though many of the animals weren't out, but we were not disappointed. The animals were amazing and the benefit of a cold January day meant we didn't have to wrestle crowds to see everything. The giraffes were amazing as we're the huge hippos and baby gorilla. We didn't get to see it all on a day and would definitely go back. The only thing that let it down was the staff service in the food hall, unhelpful and almost rude, but even that didn't dampen our day. Can't wait to return and £20 for a family of 4, an absolute bargain.

The entry fee was only approx £6 each. Even the on site restaurants were reasonably priced. (Although I don't know if this would change in peak season). There is a great variety of animals to see ranging from snakes to polar bears and everything inbetween!

This was the best zoo we have ever been too and we have been to a lot of zoos around the world. Great for kids! Huge habitats, lots of baby animals.
