Owner description: Prague Zoological Garden is situated near the center of the Czech capital, in a unique rugged landscape on the bank of the Vltava River. It opened in 1931 and during its existence of more than 80 years it has risen to become one of the most prestigious zoos in the world. Today, it is the second most visited tourist destination in the Czech Republic, just after Prague Castle. 4,600 animals and 680 species live in Prague Zoo. You can explore 12 pavilions and 150 exhibits over 58 hectares. The kids will love the Bororo Reserve, chairlift, mini-train, observation tower, paddling pool and Children’s Zoo. The pride of the zoo is its Elephant Valley, home to a sizeable herd of Asian elephants. The Giant Salamander House, where you can see the largest amphibians in the world – the critically endangered Chinese Giant Salamanders – is extraordinary as well; and the African House with an adjacent vast meadow inhabited by herds of antelopes and giraffes is worth your attention, too.

We visited when it snowed, so that brought a different side to the 'Africa' section, many of whose animals were warmly tucked up inside.

There plenty of animals to see, Penguins a personal favourite who have a great exhibit. All seem to be well cared for and have large, well designed enclosures.

Easy to get to from the centre of Prague, use the underground to Nádraží Holešovice then get a bus direct to the zoo.

Prices are good too, very very cheap entry and the restaurant was reasonable too.

Despite the recent floods myself and my girlfriend visitted the reopened Zoo yesterday to have a look around the animals situated on higher ground.

As documented in the news, the floods have affected the Zoo quite badly and the lower half of the Zoo was closed to the public. However, despite this unfortunate circumstance, our day out to the Zoo was great. The enclosures were superb and offered you great view points. All of the animals looks happy and well cared for and were well engaged with their surroundings. What impressed me especially was the space available for them to roam within.

Furthermore, at 200 CZK for an adult ticket its more than affordable. There are cafes and facilities dotted around the place and all offer food and drinks at a good price. We sat and enjoyed ice creams overlooking nice views of Pragues old town near the Bison during our visit.

My only recommendation would be that the Zoo could have included more English signs. However, the enclosures that appeared to have been recently developed did include more English information on the animals and it did not discredit the Zoo at all.

Prague zoo is beautifully set up! There are so many animals, I don't think one day is enough to see them all. The views from the zoo are also something to behold. Our LO had a grand time here! The only con is that all descriptions of animals/sign/etc. are in czech, but then again we are in Czech.

There are so many paths and different things to see, I ended up spending the entire day there! It was a great value for the amount of time I spent, and there are lots of restaurant type places scattered throughout. I'll definitely be going back this summer!

The Prague Zoo is a great way to know the city from a different angel, and not only for children!!

It is a low cost activity that takes you out of the city into a beutiful peace of animal world.

We are a young couple without children and we loved it! we paid 150 CZK with a student I.D.
