Decided to visit Prague for our 20th Wedding Anniversary.
On arrival we were updated to a club room, however be aware some of the rooms on the 7th floor have adjoining rooms - we walked in and could clearly hear the gentleman in the room next door talking on his mobile through the interconnecting door. Popped back to reception and after a bit of eyebrow raising and heated conversation between the receptionists we were given room 701, nice large room, clean bathroom nice large balcony although would have been nice to have some furniture to sit on the balcony...If we were to be really picky.......room nice although finishing touches - i.e. wooden flooring re stained around the furniture rather than under the furniture, dirty walls around the TV area - as though a drink had been sprayed on the walls and not cleaned really let the room down hence the 4* rating definately not a 5*. Comfortable bed & housekeeping service fantastic, the evening ladies -turning down the beds were always very polite.
We made sure we had included breakfast in our booking - we recommend you do the same as it is quite expensive to pay each day for breakfast, drinks in the bar are also quite expensive.
Restaurant staff polite and helpful, reception staff not as welcoming as they should be.
Good location, everything is within walking distance - be aware you really will walk on this trip, we walked about 10km each day - ladies wear comfortable footwear!
Be aware if you are departing before 6.30am you wont get into the restaurant, we asked the night before departure if we could pop in at 6am to make some toast and we were told "no, coffee and biscuits will be available by the lifts". Slightly put out by this as we had paid for breakfast and had also received a message on the TV to say as the hotel was at full occupancy guests should make every effort to eat earlier restaurant open from 6.30am....so we went down and checked out at 6.10am, our taxi was collecting us at 6.30am. asked again if we could go into the restaurant and again were told no - not open until 6.30am...yet all cereals, breads, pastries etc were out and staff available, we didnt want a cooked breakfast but something more than a kids chocolate bar for breakfast, my husband decided he'd make some toast while I stood at the lift making coffee in polystyrene cups..he was told by the restaurant staff that they werent yet open but that was as he was taking the dirty plate back.
We got to the hotle via Prague Airport Transfers booked in advance via the internet, included in the return transfer was a 4hr free walking tour, fantastic guide - wow! fantastic, make sure you have a guided tour they are so informative and well worth the tip you decide to give at the end!
Overall a good 4* Hotel in our view - we popped into a few other hotels to compare and the Alcron is better than what we saw. One of the better hotels in town, however a little more welcoming warmth on arrival and departure would go a long way.

My wife and i stayed here for the weekend, upon arrival we decided to upgrade to the "royal crown" rooms, which gives you free minibar use and inroom movies. The hotel is centeraly located and breakfasts are very good as well. Staff helpful, so really a very good hotel in this beatiful city. Highly recommended.

The hotel itself was ok even though we expected more of the advertised Art Deco. The biggest let down is the location off Stepanska street close to Wenceslav Square which is not the city centre, but a dirty bulevard. Areas around Old Town and Republica Squares felt much nicer.

Management response from Victoria Moldovanu, Guest Relations Manager

Dear guest,
I would like to thank you for sharing the comments about our hotel.
We understand that the Art Deco style of our interior might not be appealing to each guest, but it is part of the Radisson Blu Alcron hotel history that we cannot change and that makes it unique.
I hope you will consider combing back to Prague and to our hotel in the future.
With kind regards,
Victoria Moldovanu

Comfortable, fairly well kept, centrally located, service was good. WiFi connectivity and speed good. In hotel dining and bar is average. Bathroom is ok, shower sits in darkness, water pressure is a problem in the mornings. Just have a sense that could be better appointed for the hotel category but really not bad.

I travelled with my sister and 13 year old nephew to Prague and stayed at the Alcron for 5 nights and then moved on to Olomouc in Moravia for a few nights – highly recommend a visit to his town, and Krakow. There is little to fault with this hotel. We were booked with a Club King and had a cot as well. The room was plenty big enough for all of us. The breakfast is super, you will not want for anything. Our room price included free pay preview movies, and the minibar, what a perk! We are not big drinkers but after walking all day we pretty much emptied the cokes, juices etc... every night. If you are a dark chocolate fan you will enjoy the selection. I am not sure how much more it was to be in the Club section but it was definitively worth it. The only fault with the room ....and this is really picky...was the shower which had no curtain and a very short glass partition pretty much guaranteeing you will soak the floor a bit. We got pretty good with this by the end of the trip and really it was a good excuse to enjoy the bathtub. I loved the TV audio piped into the bathroom ...a little strange when you realize what is going on but I liked being able to hear the news while I got ready in the morning. The location is great, only about a 10 minute walk to the train station which was super for our day trip to Kunta Hora. The bus station is about another 5 minutes. We splurged and took a cab from the airport to the hotel when we arrived and that cost us about 630. Once we were at the hotel we walked everywhere from there except for once as we wanted to try the metro. The transportation system there is really easy to use, but again from this location you can really walk everywhere. We all loved the hotel and recommend it highly.
