“Beautiful ballroom, great staff and lovely breakfast”
Reviewed December 22, 2012

We spent just one night in this lovely hotel but it was great experience. Hotel is in perfect location in city center. Lady on reception was really nice and helpful. When we asked about their famous ballroom they took us there, switch on lights and left us to make some great photos. Our room was fabulous we were in junior suite, and it was really spacious and we loved the bathroom..Breakfast was also great, big selection of food, menu a la carte for omelets. I can´t think of anything that we didn´t like...

Room Tip: If there is option ask for room on highest floor u get to see the beautiful Prague Castle.

The hotel location is great, place looks old, but that’s the idea. Unfortunately as usual, are the small things that can transform a nice experience in ordinary one. When I check out I received the normal question: Anything from minibar? No. You are register with mineral water. I said that I did not take any water, so maybe is a mistake. They give a pcs on paper to sign that I did not take the water. OK. After leaving I check the invoice and the mineral water was there. Now is not about the money in any side, for them the cost can be around 0.5 EUR, for my was 3 EUR, so this should not be an issue for any side, and most from their side as I was the customer and what I would gain for not paying the mineral water. What was the idea for my signing the paper that I did not consume the water, to make the follow up.. .common.. stupid..

Dear guest,

thank you very much for your review posting. Sharing your experience is very important for guests deciding on where to stay in Prague, as well as for us to either see what we are doing good or where an improvement is needed.

I deeply apologize for your unfortunate experience at the check-out. The process of signing a paper is correct and important as the minibar item has been charged by the system. However, after signing that paper, the item should of course have been removed from your account.

To avoid such situation for the future, we will immediately schedule a necessary training for the staff in this area and we will review the process to find out if it can be optimized to prevent such mistakes.

I would like to offer you a compensation for the item you had to pay without consuming it. I will be happy if you contact me on my e-mail address j.mika@grandhotelbohemia.cz.

I believe that your review will help us improve and offer even better services to our customers.

With kind regards from Prague

We stayed at this hotel for 2 nights last weekend & can honestly say that we enjoyed every minute. The hotel is beautiful & in a fantastic central location. On arrival our welcome was warm & friendly, we were shown to a lovely well equipped room with a very comfortable bed.

Throughout our stay the staff were charming & helpful in everyway. Breakfast was excellent on both mornings although we did not eat in the hotel in the evening so cant comment on the dinner offer.

Dont be put off by the few negative reviews as this hotel is well worth the money.

We have been in this hotel for 2 nights in the end of november. We had chosen a room, not the standard room, but slightly better, and we were upgraded to a suite for the same price! It's a very nice hotel, with excellent service, a nice bar ( we haven't tried the restaurant) and in a very good location, just minutes walk from everywhere in the center. Actually we walked (with suitcases) from the train station, 10 minutes away, on our arrival and departure, whithout any problem. Breakfast was really good, and all people working there were very very nice and helpful. We went to the State theater for Opera, and it was 5 minutes walk, even less. We slept late, and that was not a problem, the maid was smiling and telling us to relax. We had a wonderful view over the roofs of the old city, we were in room 607, it was just marvelous! I whish to thank all people working there, and of course we will come back!

Wonderful location for enjoying the shopping of Prague. The hotel is a good standard but is a little let down by not having enough staff. The staff they do have are great - friendly and helpful - but there just aren't enough of them! It is very busy in the run up to Christmas but they should lay on extra staff.
There is the most fantastic ballroom in the basement of the hotel that the front desk staff kindly opened up for us to see - it was part of the history of the hotel during the second world war and is amazing. Our weekend has been made all the more perfect by a good snowfall All in all, a great weekend!

The location is excellent. Even with walking difficulties I found it close to the Old Town centre and other important landmarks.
On arrival the reception/lobby was spotless, and we noted that even the door glass was kept constantly clean from finger marks. The staff could not have been more helpful, providing much useful information and advice.
Our room was an acceptible size and had all the ameneties needed. Importantly, wi-fi proved very reliable. the en-suite was superb and even had piped TV playing if and when required!
A very quiet room with excellent bed of some considerable size. Certainly enough room to move about in - without waking one's partner.
One drawback however was that the daily cleaners were excellent but perhaps a little over zealous. The "do not disturb sign" wasn't on the door, but at 9.00am, they walked into the room unannounced, leaving somewhat more quickly, when they were suitably admonished. This was not early for the time of year, and in fact we believe that we were two of the first down for breakfast, so most others at the hotel must surely have still been in their rooms. It simply should not have happened.
The breakfast itself was superb. There was a wide choice with very helpful staff at times outnumbering the guests. Buffet or cooked, or both if required, were available up to 10.30am.
A point that we did not like was the cleaning after one set of guests to a table, prior to the next. The cruet and milk were moved to one side of the table, but the waiter who was using a cleaning spray and cloth to go over it, simply did not appreciate that milk and cleaning fluid do not make ideal partners. The table should have been cleared and then cleaned to avoid contamination. The milk then being replaced.
For an hotel such as this, it should never happen.
It is certainly a Superior hotel. We would stay again without any need to look elsewhere. However, there are many hotels in the city and I hope that the two problems were just oversights from the individual empoyees. The hotel appears rightly proud of its Trip Advisor status but the quality is something that they must continue to strive to maintain.
As stated above, we did highly rate the staff and their attitude to everyone they dealt with in our presence, including a rather dogmatic and difficult chap who was in our view very unreasonable about a billed item which turned out to have been correct all along.
Altogether a very happy visit.

Room Tip: Quiet rooms to the rear. The view is typical city and the view should not be an important factor.

This is a classy establishment with high quality service and food. Restaurant is excellent. Breakfast is also good with excellent service, cooked to order eggs included and a promptly refilled buffet. You can even have "Sekt" for Breakfast (not recommended). Prices are on the high side but are correct for this class of hotel. North Americans should take note, however, that the standard "superior" rooms are on the small side (but perfectly acceptable by European standards).
Beds are extremely comfortable. Wifi usably fast and works all over the hotel. Limited selection of English language TV.
