The wife and I stayed there for a week over New Years. We found an incredible rate there, especially considering the holiday. This hotel is in an outstanding location, on a quiet street within walking distance to everything. The staff are helpful. Free internet, and they'll even lend you an ethernet cable and an outlet adaptor if you forgot them at home. Breakfasts were outstanding as well. Our room was a little on the small side, but fully functional. Would stay there again.

I just wanted to echo the recommendations of the previously posted reviews - they are right on!. We booked the Maximillian because of the great reviews on this website. We were not disappointed and would stay there again. I am a light sleeper and the rooms were so quiet and I wish I had the bed at home.

The location in Prague, polite staff, clean and modern rooms, great buffet breakfast and fair price (we paid 113 Euros per night booking directly through their website - a special rate). The free coffee, espresso and cocoa in the bar and library were a very welcome treat after being out in the cold during the day.

It should also be noted that part of the Czech National Art Gallery is located only 3 minutes in a Cloister nearby. It is worthwhile only if you have an extra hour to sightsee.

My recommedation is not to book the hotel transporation, which is overpriced. I would book upon arrival a round trip ticket between the airport and the hotel. The total cost of this service was 880 crowns (about 31 Euros) for up to four passengers with luggage. You may share the van with some other people to the city, but this was not a problem. We had a private van from the hotel to the airport for the same price.

Also, we could have gotten a better rate of exchange by exchanging Euros at one of the many exchange booths rather than taking out money via the Automated Teller. The bank charge is 5 Euros for ATM transactions, which I found to be excessive. The exchange rate at the booth to sell Krones was also higher (around 28.5)

Prague is a great city..don't miss it!

This is a great hotel. The location is superb. It is in a quiet location but really close to the old square. The staff and their attention to detail is second to none (may have something to do with the scary manager!). All the little extras in the rooms are great. The breakfast was brilliant. It was really fresh, had great variety AND they serve until 11.30 weekdays! The honesty bar is a great novelty and the Thai massage salon downstairs was great for relaxing.

My wife and I have just returned from Prague where we went for the week between Christrmas and the New Year. We chose the hotel as a result of your reviews and I have to say it was spot on with an excellent rating. The breakfast bar would not disgrace any 1st class hotel in the U.K. and the room was spotless. Clean linen every night on your pillow and very helpful and cheeful staff. Prague is a terrific place to visit and this hotel is in a very quiet part of the city just 5 mins from the Old Town Square. Just the place if you are a light sleeper. Bonus of not having unruly kids charging about.

We reviewed trip advisor and found great reviews for the Hotel Maximillian so we stayed there . We were not at all disappointed. The staff is friendly and helpful. There is a business center with unlimited internet and terminals so we could do e mail without bringing our laptop. The neighboorhood is perfect, about a five minute walk to the old Town square but on a quiet street. Can't think of anything to complain about

This hotel is perfect:nice staff, nice location, very clean, very good breakfast, nice rooms, very modern hotel. I had 42' plasma in my room. Everything in this hotel was perfect. I'm planning to come to prague again in 2 yrs, but with better weather(to cold right now) and I'm not gonna search for another hotel because Golden Tulip Maximillian was perfect.

We chose this hotel after reading the reviews and would heartily endorse all the good reports, especially the friendly helpful staff. We booked a superior room and were upgraded to their only suite which was very chic. We booked transfers through the hotel which were limousines. The cost was cheaper than many transfers adverised on the internet.
The hotel is in a very quiet area but only ten minutes leisurely walk from Old Town Square. Everyone says Prague is no longer cheap, which is true but tickets for the State Opera (booked online) are very good value.
Tip: For a cheap cup of coffee try Marks and Spencers cafe on Wenceslas Square where you can get coffee and complimentary piece of shortbread for under £1.
