“Gem of a boutique hotel”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed November 12, 2013

Class act all the way. Excellent service, both via internet prior to trip and onsite, clean and modern rooms, comfortable bed, great breakfast, quality toiletries, Nespresso machine in the room, and even a goldfish if you want! Honesty bar was maybe a little overpriced for Czech standards, but there are plenty of other bars and restos nearby, and a convenience store next door.
Quiet street about a 10 minute walk to Old Town square, bridges, and all the other sights with want to see.

Our Group of 8 just finished a river cruise in Budapest and arrived by train in Prague.

We greatly appreciated the pickup service (for a fee) offered by the hotel. Our train was late by 30 min but the driver was still there to pick us up.

When we got to the hotel, the front desk had all our info and keys ready for us. I have been to a lot of hotels with a group and this was one of the most efficient check in ever. They even had tourist maps and brochures for us.

The rooms were clean/spacious and the bathrooms had lots of counterspace ( A MUST FOR 2 WOMEN). Only problem was not enough light by the bedside, hard to read at night. Breakfest was amazing, free wifi and tea/coffee time was appreciated after a long day walking (4pm). The honestly bar was a good concept (help yourself and put your name down to be charged to your room)

We then used their airport service (for a fee) for our group. This was very prompt service.

Kudo's to- The 2 Tomas at front desk and Sophia ( I may have this wrong - a young brunette girl). I would highly recommend this hotel to travellers to Prague

Room Tip: there are 2 bldgs, the twin beds were in the red bldg, the doubles were in the black bldg. We were...

Only in Prague for a couple of nights, so we chose the Maximilian based on location and its tripadvisor score. I guess if I'd read the reviews I wouldn't have been so surprised at what a special place this is. Our room was on the front, with a view of the church across the street. Not especially large, but generous by European standards, and well-equipped. First time I've seen a carafe provided for tap water (which is excellent, by the way). Unlike many small hotels, there is a lounge with an honor bar, and coffee and cake in the afternoon. Plus a separate library, both with comfortably modern furnishings. Step out the front door and you're just a short walk from the major sights, so it's a convenient home base. Breakfast is fine, and the morning of our departure they opened early for us. The entire international staff is friendly, accommodating and professional. We left (in a car arranged by the hotel) wishing we could stay longer, and hoping to return.

Highly recommend this hotel for its location to the fairy tale city of Prague. The service from the beginning was superb. We were picked up from the airport and the scenic route was taken with some explanations of what we were seeing. The staff on arrival and during the stay were helpful and friendly. The room was a great size, clean and bathroom had nice toiletries. The hotel is a short walk from the old town. Breakfast was good.

I spent quite some time researching hotels in Prague before my trip, and am so happy that I chose the Maximilian. From the moment we arrived until we departed (in the very early morning hours), the staff was absolutely wonderful. We were in a room on the 6th floor in the Red House, and we loved it. Just a note, the elevator only goes to the 5th floor, so it's a flight of stairs to the 6th floor.

The breakfast served every morning is incredible...there is quite a vast selection as well as a cooked to order menu and coffee bar. Between the free wifi and the breakfast included, I couldn't pass up the Maximilian. The staff all spoke English and told me to never pay more than 45 CZK for a beer because no Czech person would. That became the most valuable advice for my time in Prague!!

It's only a 5 minute walk to the Old Town Square, so I found the location to be great. It's always hard choosing a hotel when you have never been somewhere, but I am truly happy that I chose the Maximilian. When I come back for another visit, I will certainly be staying here!!

And don't forget to ask for a pet goldfish for your room!

I would highly recommend the Maximilian Hotel for maximum enjoyment of the beautiful, historic city of Prague. The staff was extremely helpful in making this a very comfortable, beautiful and convenient stay. The location of the hotel is fantastic, with the old town square only a few blocks away, and yet it is located on a quiet street looking out on a beautiful church. The limo service from the airport was great and I loved the breakfasts. I have stayed in hotels in many major cities around the world and Maximilian was one of the best!!

Room Tip: request a church view

When we arrived I was a little dismayed as the view out our window was a wall (we asked for a church view). The next day they moved us to a church view. But what happened next made the visit that much better. I asked Tomas if they could arrange flowers to be placed in our room while we were out for the day to surprise my wife for her birthday. When we returned, he had delivered a massive bouquet, cake, champagne and a card as well. Totally hit it out of the park! A great location, close to everything. Thanks Maximillian staff for making in a great week!
