“Typical Marriott, clean and confortable”
Reviewed January 19, 2008

The hotel is in an excellent location, close to Old Town Square and the Astronomical Clock.

The hotel is within easy access to the airport from the metro station. The metro is in walking distance and is very easy to understand.

The staff were courteous and polite and always called me by my last name. Maps of Prague were handed to me with the major tourist attractions circled when checking in.

There is complimentary coffee and tea in the morning downstairs near the restaurant.

The hotel has a well equipped gym downstairs, which isn’t run by the hotel.

The rooms are of a typical Marriott size with two double beds, all rooms have up to date plasmas.

The Billa supermarket just around the corner and shopping centers close by.

I planned a Christmas Holiday in Prague and picked the Marriott based on the reviews of my fellow trip-advisors! Thanks.

I took advantage of the advance payment 21-day rate and saved over $ 1000.00 US on a two-room reservation for seven nights.

My contact prior to arrival with the hotel was most excellent. I suggest contacting the Concierge, Sona for assistance with tours, concerts, dining and other advance planning. Sona, suggested the hotel airport pickup and return. Great deal , appx. $ 70 in a clean mercedes with a well dressed driver that is affable .

Upon arrival, I asked the desk to coordinate my lost luggage (air carrier) and they got it to my room as soon as it arrived. Check-in was a breeze. We decided to move to the sixth floor. Travel hint, they have an executive lounge with a lovely breakfast and snacks/sodas till midnight located on the seventh floor. They have a lounge with complimentary internet on the sixth with an internal stairwell with access to the seventh, for snacks.

Room service is expensive (where isn't it?) but, worth it. Prompt and tasty! They have a very nice avocado and shrimp dish with frisee salad.

Housekeeping is extraordinary! I tip $ 5 a day and it was Christmas so, I tipped a little more but I don't think that mattered.

I believe in and support, the Marriott brands. Over seventy nights a year for over ten years but, this property has an ethic of professionalism that would please ole Bill M. himself! I do not agree with some of the reviews that state this property, 'is a Marriott.' It offers a state-of-the-art health club, casino that is tucked discretely away, from the non-interested and a decent dining room. The rooms, bedding and electronics are all updated. The staff well-trained AND supervised, as well.

The property is also very well-located for the healthy traveler. You are but a 15 minute walk from most of the main attractions like Old Town, the Jewish Cemetery, Wenseslaus Square and the Opera House. The Castle is a cab ride.

I love the hotel, its staff and the customer regard. ****

A bit on Prague outside the hotel. Like any large city rude people abound. I never once saw a local exhibit a simple courtesy like gesturing a woman ahead of them at the door, a pardon me or anything resembling a common courtesy.

The most amazing and breath-taking church (for me) was located in Old town, Lady Before Tyn. Sadly, people did not remove their hats before the cross, bumped and giggled and people praying and took pictures when it expressedly stated, otherwise.

The Jewish Cemetery is such an indictment of man. People were buried stacked on each other for centuries while they were forced to reside within the ghetto. Now non-practicing anythings treat it like an Disney side-show. Hawking everything from t-shirts sporting a great oppressor of Jews, Josef Stalin.

That said, the city is well worth a few days visit. Seven, was to much for my psyche. I pray that the people of free Prague will use their freedom to join those of us on the planet that seek to live in harmony and appreciate small acts of kindness as gestures of thanks for a sane world. This city has lost its soul.

Spent three nights here and loved the location, service and the overall quality of the hotel. There are dedicated taxis for the hotel which bear the Marriott logo and take away the headache of unfamiliar taxis roaming the streets. Walking distance to old Prague. I will stay there again.

We stayed here two nights in december 2007. Can't say a bad word about it, everything was as expected. The hotel was in very good shape, our room was extremely well kept and maintained i.e. the bathroom looked as if it had never been used - a real plus. The beds were fabulously comfortable and all expected amenities were there. Marriott have a good product without a doubt, and you generally can expect what you will get. The TV was not great, it seems in general hotels throughout Europe think that English people only want to watch the news. On the UK option there was CNN, Sky, BBC World, but nothing more, and Bloomberg!! come on I'm on vacation, I don't care about the value of the Yen on the Frankfurt stock exchange! We did'nt much use their facilites but the hotel looks good, looks the part and is very well placed in prague. Its a 10 minute walk to Old Town Square, there is a supermarket next door (Billa) and a lovely Cafe if you turn left and walk to the end of the block where breakfast for two (Ham/Eggs/Toast/Coffee/Juice is 250 kr compared to 1250 kr in the hotel!! Extra points to the guys on the door who, when we took back our suitcases from storage asked us how we were getting to the airport. We told them that we were taking the Cedaz bus service and we booked a four o clock pick up. They pointed over the road to a Cedaz bus (the office is right opposite the hotel) and said, get in that as it is 120 Kr each. If you request a hotel pick up, even when it is opposite (the same bus was coming right over to the hotel), it is 399 kr. OK I tipped them both 50 kr each but thats not the point, they were genuinely helping us to save a few bob. Its well run, and I guess from the top down they have their people well trained and it shows in their service and effort. Highly recommended if you can get a good rate (I got a pay in advance deal off Marriott.co.uk, which came in at just under £100 GBP per night. ) For me, to stay in a major european city, in a 5 star hotel, midweek, thats a deal.

Expect an excellent location, super service and an unbelievably comfortable and clean room at a fantastically reasonable price!
We were very happy with our 2 night stay. The hotel is very conveniently located to the tourist centre of prague. Staff are very helpful and the bar is very relaxing. The room and the comforts associated with it are super. I'd always recommend Marriott Hotels for city breaks as you can be guaranteed convenience, relaxation, cleanliness and comfort.

Just returned from a 4 night stay. We had booked an executive level room for the first night and used points for the next three. When we arrived, at 12 Noon, we were told we were being upgraded to a Jr. Suite for the first night, but it wouldn't be ready for an hour. In addition we might have to change rooms for the next 3 nights. After traveling all night, the last thing you want to hear is your room isn't ready. We were given access to the Executive room while we waited (we did pay for the access), where there were soft drinks, snacks, and a espresso machine. The room is a comfortable place to wait, but would have been nicer after showering or freshening up. Our room was ready in the promised hour.
Our room on the third floor was indeed a Jr. Suite, with a living room and sleeping room. It had two bathrooms, and was well appointed. The beds were Marriott beds, very comfortable. What we did miss, was a view. There wasn't any, but then again, we had four days to see all the sights.
Other than the delayed check-in, the staff was very helpful. We were given directions to sights, info on tours, and suggestions on where to dine. No matter who was at the Concierge desk, there was always a helpful person there. Anyone worried about the language problems or communicating, can rest, knowing that everyone spoke English. In fact, language was never a problem during our trip.
The lobby was attractive Marriott style lobby, with plenty of seating, a restaurant, and a comfortable bar that had NYC prices. All of the prices were the same as if you were in a better hotel in the U.S. Breakfast was around $30 each....ouch. You can opt for Executive Level access for 50 euro (around $75) a day. The lounge has a Continental breakfast and snacks all day.

What makes the Marriott a great choice is its location. Yes, bring comfortable walking shoes due to the cobblestone streets of Prague, but the city is a great walking city. Close to the Old Town Square which is always busy, a short walk to the Josefov (Jewish) area, and to the busy shopping areas. If you need a mall fix, there is a huge mall around the corner.

Prague is a very pretty city, with many things to see and do. Most can be done in three days, unless you are planning excursions. The weather during our stay was cloudy, chilly and rainy. The concierge couldn't have this changed.

Overall we enjoyed our stay. We never had to change rooms, but we did lose the Executive Lounge access. We thought the 50 euro was excessive.

You will not go wrong choosing this hotel, unless you are looking for a real European hotel.

We stayed on the concierge level - a duplex suite with all the trimmings, including a complimentary breakfast buffet. The location is good, atthe edge of the Old Town. The spa in the basement looked dark and dinky. Everything was paid for by the company, but I kept an eye on prices and was appalled by what they charged for the internet access - 595 crowns or about US$34 per day. I pay less for a month in New York. This is highway robbery, very offputting.
