“good experience but beware the swimming lessons”
Reviewed June 16, 2012

We had a very nice weekend here and enjoyed the lavish breakfast, the great location and courteous staff. The spa area is great, with a glass-roofed salt-water pool (not for lap-swimming, but for relaxing). Unfortunately, they seem to allow swimming lessons for local children here which rather wrecks the atmosphere. Very small ladies` sauna, but clean and nice. Also, a helpful and friendly staff there. Overall, a very good experience, and only the swimming lessons prevent me from giving 5 stars (and it is listed as a 5 star hotel).

Dear Randolph23606,
thank you very much for your very positive feedback on tripadvisor, but also for telling us your feelings about the individual swim courses. We have limited them already, so that we allow them only during the day, not anymore in the evening. We will take your comment as occasion to ovserve the current situation to make eventually future adjustments.
Since you were satisfied with everything else, I really look forward to see you soon again.
with kind regards

Everything in this hotel was superb; Reception, Rooms, Room Service, Restaurants, and the Concierge. The Buffet Breakfast was the best we have ever seen all over the world; very rich, and delicious. Don’t miss to visit the Duke’s Bar & Café.

Room Tip: Select a River view Room, however City view Rooms are good too.

Dear Issa N,
thank you very much for your positive feedback. Especially that you mention our breakfast buffet as one of the best, shows us that we did the right decisions. Breakfast restaurant was just opened mid of March after an extensive renovation. Taking this as an opportunity we changed our whole buffet concept and increased the selection.

This hotel is just a typical holiday inn type hotel. The rooms are ordinary and nothing special. Breakfast is decent, but depending on the crowds can be overwhelming. The rooms were clean and all of the amenities you would need are available. The location probably cannot be beat and the roof top deck at night is quite spectacular.

Dear luvtotravel1022,
thank you very much for taking your time to write your feedback on tripadvisor. I am disappointed that we were not able to completely satisfy you with our hotel.
The rooms are from the design timeless and actually refurbished 3 years ago. Since you mentioned also a few of our unique selling points I still hope we will see you again in the near future.

We did 3 nights at the InterContinental Prague prior to the Legendary Danube river cruise with Avalon. Front desk/reception very friendly and efficient, and they upgraded us to a junior suite, nice touch. Although this hotel was built in 1970 and the exterior is undergoing renovation, the interior had been recently refurbished and was a knock-out, from the public rooms to the breakfast room to the beautiful roof top restaurant, where the food, though expensive, was outstanding. The room itself was beautifully furnished, and the bathroom roomy and pretty.

I'm a travel agent of 30 plus years in the business, and travel all the time, world-wide. My experience with InterContinental hotels over the years proves that they are consistently upscale , reliable, and deliver quality accommodations, public areas and impeccable service.

The only hotel comparable during recent journeys is the Hilton Arc d' Triomphe in Paris.

This hotel was included in our 3 day pre-trip River Cruise. Although I try to avoid big American style hotels when possible, I did book at two Hiltons and was very pleased.

We were not impressed with anything but the convenience regarding this hotel. When we arrived and throughout our 3 nights here, there was construction work going on and the hotel was scaffolded. Although, thankfully, we did not hear the noise from our room, many of our fellow guests had to be moved.

The rooms were adequate and the included breakfast very good. What upset us more than anything is the following. My husband and I travel lightly and halfway through our trip, send out our clothes for laundering and dry-cleaning. Having done this in so many cities throughout the world, we did not check the prices at the Intercontinental. Usually our bill runs around $70. Our bill here was $240!!!!!!!!!!!!!! We obviously were responsible for the bill, but when we checked out and told the manager who happened to be on duty, all we got was a shrug and "I've heard that before". This was also the most expensive and least exciting hotel we stayed at during our month of traveling.

If you need the safety of an american hotel, this one works fine. If you want to experience Europe, find a smaller, more intimate hotel where you will know you are in Prague and not Minneapolis!

Dear travelguruDanville,
I really appreciate you honest and detailed feedback on tripadvisor. I would like to deeply apologize for the reaction you received from our Duty Manager. This does certainly not represent the opinion from laundry costumers. We have even a lot of local costumers using our laundry because they appreciate the quality they receive even for a bit higher price than they are used to in Prague. I can assure you that we monitor our pricing regular and compare this also with other hotels on this market and we are somewhere priced in the middle. It might be that the prices are more expensive than in other European cities you know, but this is difficult to compare since every city has its own pricing levels with all kind of services.
I would appreciate if I would be able to discuss that with you personally. You can get in touch with me under following e-mail : oliver.geyer@icprague.com.

We stayed in this hotel in May and were quite happy with it. The location is great-a short walk to the centre of Prague, staff were friendly, service was fast, excellent breakfast buffet. The only negative is that the carpeting in the room looked like it could use a good cleaning.
