We dealt with the hotel via email who were very helpful. They booked a taxt for us at a guaranteed rate ( to avoid being ripped off by an unknown at the airport) at 650 CZ. Both the drivers we had seemed reputable and the cars were both immaculate Skoda Superbs (big!). We paid the hotel for the first run from the airport (haing not got any CZ yet) and paid cash on the return. Either is fine, though they would prefer cash I think!

The hotel is pretyt much in the centre of prague, a short walk to old town square, and only 25 minute walk to the opera. The bridge was 10 minutes, the castle district 15-20. You could use public transport, excellent trams etc - but it was so close we were able to walk everywhere. The hotel location was one of the real highlights for us, very central but quiet.

The room (105) was very quiet, the hotel itself tucked off on a little side street is also very peaceful and quiet, no noise at all. It was clean, and sizeable enough fo a writing desk, wardrobe and two reading chairs. A beautiful chandelier adorned our room, and even though 50% of the bulbs had blown it was light enough for the room, a minor detail.

We just about managed to pick up the wifi in our room, enough for email and a rough facebook check but not enough to download the paper. It was stronger signal downstairs but not much faster. Plug sockets are all EU 2 pin - dont forget your adapter.

The bathroom was very clean and modern, a sizeable tropical shower, no bath. The room also had a safe and minibar. Big thick curtains kept out enough light to enable a lie in, so we were able to make the most of a late breakfast siting while we stayed. Bed was huge with a good mattress. Pillows were feather, with a synthetic available on request.

The breakfast had a large selection, and though the restaurant itself was tiny, it wasn't ever overcrowded while we stayed. A good coffee machine, bacon, fresh bread, yoghurt and granola, fresh fruit, hardboiled eggs etc were a few of the highlights but there was a lot more.

The only thing that kept this from being a 5 star review was the reception staff. While courteous they weren't ever particularly interested in us as we came and went - not the most effusive or friendly service you will ever recieve but adequate and polite.

We ate at a few local restaurants - some good, some average - see our other reviews if you're interested!

I do not have a bad word to say about Hotel Casa Marcello. I stayed in a standard twin room which was furnished very basically but the room size was very spacious and bed amazingly comfortable. I wish my own bed was as comfy. The hotel is very clean and the staff friendly. Breakfast had everything you wanted with both continental and hot food. Coffee machine and lots of fresh juice. Room had a small mini bar which was reasonably priced. We also had a small accident and split red wine all over the bed sheet which were changed and we were not charged laundry. The hotel was located in the perfect place with only minutes from some really lovely restaurants and bars. Old town square was only 5 minutes away and everything within easy walking distance. I will defiantly be recommending this hotel to family and friends.

We spent five days at Casa Marcello and LOVED it!
FIrstly, it's a historic building, cir. 13th century. As such, you should know there's no elevator. But don't let it stop you - reception staff was very accomodating and took care of our luggage. We originally booked Jr. suite. When we arrived, there wasn't one available and we were given a beautiful apartment instead. All staff members we came in contact with were wonderful. They suggested great restaurants and booked our tours for us. Buffet breakfast was delicious and varied. Location of Casa Marcello couldn't be better - less than 5 min. walk to the Old Town Square. We plan to return to Prague this spring and can't imagine staying anywhere but Casa Marcello from now on!

Gorgeous view, huge room, wonderful breakfast. An elevator would have made it close to a 5,but it's an old building. The front desk staff were wonderful, even giving us directions to a walk in clinic at the hospital for a brief illness. The restaurants in the area were terrific and the Christmas Market was only 2 blocks away. The breakfast was more than bountiful and the service was outstanding. If you need a home away from home in Prague, this is the place.

Room Tip: Our room was on the third floor and oh my, what a view.

I stayed in room 209 with my husband and 2 children. The room was big and had a very lovely bathroom and separate toilet and shower room. My children slept in the lounge room on a converted sofa and a cot, my son who is 3 is maybe a bit old for a cot but he was fine with it, he understands things are a bit different on holiday so there were no issues with him not having a bed! Our bed was so big that they ended up in there half the time anyway!! The hotel was very nice, clean, and the staff were mostly friendly. The breakfast was good with a good selection of food. Excellent location, only a few minutes walk from the Old Town Square, although we did get lost on the way home on our first night, so I would say make sure you know where you are going as the streets are like a maze, especially in the dark!
The staff were helpful and very informative about the history of the hotel and area, it's all so old, I loved it!
The only downside for me, and this is nothing to do with the hotel, was some of the other guests. It is a nice hotel, but I don't think all of the guests appreciated the children staying there. I don't think we were too loud but they are 3 & 7 so you've got to expect some noise from them, and we did get some disapproving looks. The rooms are very spaced out so we didn't have neighbours, it was more at breakfast and in the hotel communal areas.
I would stay here again, with or without the kids!!

Great location and safe area. Basic but has everything you need for a city break. Quint and unique hotel and although the staff aren't overly friendly they are nice enough. Breakfast is a mix of hot and cold food and is available until 11am which was handy. Overall a good value hotel which I would recommend.

Just returned from 3 night stay at Casa Marcello and thoroughly enjoyed our stay. Fabulous location, quiet but close to bars, restaurants and places of interest. Room was huge, lovely bathroom and very comfortable bed. Choice of hot and cold breakfasts, both delicious. The only negative thing I could say is that the reception staff, apart from one, were not overly friendly. Would highly recommend traditional Czech restaurant next door. Beware buying food from wooden huts in old town square, pricing is intentionally vague and we ended up paying £50 for 4 snacks!!!
