“A littel gem of a hotel tucked away in a quiet corner of the old town. Peaceful and friendly.”
Reviewed April 20, 2011

The hotel is well situated, just a short walk to the old town square, with a range of restaurants and bars nearby. We were upgraded to an apartment on arrival – very nice! Comfortable clean rooms, with plenty of wardrobe / cupboard space and a good bathroom.

The interior of the hotel is a bit of a maze but it all adds to the charm. The breakfasts were excellent - good choice and quality, (hot and cold).

We have just returned from our long weekend at Prague. Casa Marcello is located just a few minutes walk from the main Old Town Square but even so it is hidden away from the main hussle and bussle of the square. It almost backs on to the main Vltava river so no road noise coming from behind the hotel. It is extremely quiet - which is good! The staff were very polite and helpful with excellent English vocabulary. Unfortunately we did not get a chance to eat in their restaurant 'Agnes' as it was out of season. Breakfast we splendid and offered a wild choice of hot and cold foods and beverages. The only thing lacking was a tea and coffee tray in our room but other than that we had a very large room with a massive bed and a good size bathroom. Our room was very hot with plenty of radiators which was very welcomed as we arrived in the rain.

I would like to start off by saying that I used to work in the hotel industry (as well as bars and restaurants for many years) and have a realistic view of what's good/bad. Casa Marcello is a lovely little hotel tucked away in a side street a few minutes easy walk from the Old Town square. our lovely time there started at check in where Elizabeth upgraded us to a junior suite when we told her that we had just got engaged (which we had by the way). she walked us personally from reception to our suite which was a nice touch. The room was spotlessly clean, bright and airy. We had a separate lounge (small though perfect) and a large bathroom (no bath but a power shower big enough for two adults to use at the same time). The atmosphere at the hotel is lovely and as an blanket statement I would say "great little hotel". To be more precise though I will list good points and not so good points.

Good stuff:

Breakfast - lovely, LOADS of food, great range, lots of drinks and refreshments the staff constantly refilling the hot food in the Bain Marie. large fruit bowl that you can take from for later. A damn good breakfast buffet

Service - could not have been more friendly or helpful

Location - perfect, easy walk to everywhere really (old town, Jewish Quarter etc)

Cleanliness - perfect.

Atmosphere - romantic, chilled, friendly, open - not stiff.

Not so good stuff:

Duvets - they don't have double duvets. I heard several guest ask at reception but all's that they have is two singles on each double bed. This didn't spoil our sleep in any way but we're used to having one not two.

That's it really, I could be picky and mention that they didnt have UK/Czech plug adaptors but that was my own fault for forgetting mine anyway. The television signal wasnt great which cut the choice of stations down but we were not there to watch TV anyway.

In conclusion a great hotel that we will definitely stay with again. The staff are a delight, the service great and not overbearing), everyone spoke English, the food was lovely, the location amazing and all in all a tip top stay!

We have truly enjoyed our stay here. The hotel is right in city center but tucked away in a small lane so it's dead quiet. The rooms are large and cozy with lot of wardrobe space. Big flat screen TV with many channels (no English movie channels) and free internet is available.

If I should get picky though, I was missing full selection of toiletries (no body lotion or shower gel, only soap) and water kettle with selection of teas and coffee.

We had breakfast served in bed - it was a big selection of everything, very fresh and tasty.

Hotel Casa Marcello is a great little place to stay. A fantastic place is you want somewhere nice, but not out of control fancy or expensive. The place is sweet and cozy. The staff speak good English and are all very friendly and accomodating. The location too is fantastic and close to everything in Stare Mesto. I would recommend!!!

My mum & I stayed at Casa Marcello 17th-20th December 2010 for my mum's birthday treat & what a fantastic quiet hotel, great staff that made us both feel so welcome & special. We where lucky to receive an upgrade on our room & on arrival were treated to a lovely bottle of red wine. Breakfast was enough to last you until your evening meal. Locality - about 5 mins walk to the astrolodgical clock in the centre of the old town. Thank you to everyone at Casa Marcello, hope to see you all again soon - keep up the good work xXx
