The structure is very old and well maintained. The church inside is amazing. The master work of sculpture and paint is on display. Just visit...

We arrived early at 840 on a Wednesday morning to avoid the crowds . The climb up from The Charles Bridge is quite steep but doable if you walk regularly. We followed a Mother n Son up the steps n she looked to about 75-80 years old n made it to the top with a couple of stop n breathes en route.
The castle dominates the skyline n is broken up into several sections. You get the option of which ticket to buy based on how much you want to see.If you there early you get to seethe beautiful reflections of the stained glass windows on the walls of the cathedral.
We paid the extra to take photos but tbh no one was checking for photo permits so I’m sure people were taking shots for free. The disappointing bit was there are no maps or guides given out with the tickets so you do have to self guide your way around if you are not in a tour group. We managed ok n within each area there are explanations in several languages

Absolutely worth visiting BUT you'd be advised to go early in the day to avoid the crush - we arrived around 9:00 am and had a relaxed look around without being hassled by crowds. On our way out around 2 hours later, however, we noticed that everywhere was getting very crowded indeed and it would be virtually impossible to get photographs without people always insisting on being part of the scene.

Prague Castle is the largest ancient castle in the world built in the 9th century at 750,000 square feet. The architecture is unbelievable.

We really enjoyed the outdoor spaces more that touring inside. It is very crowded, but walking through the arboretum and inside the art exhibit were welcome diversions from the hoards going through St Vitus and the castle itself, which we found a bit disappointing.
