Like most of Prague you need time to see as much as possible, and this Old-Timer is no exception. The castle is part of a complex of buildings. We saw it as part of a six hours whirl-wind walking tour (in the rain - not fun) and then came back to other things we wanted to see, like the Strahov Monastery which we saw from the Castle.

The benefit of a guided tour - that is if you can hear the guide - is that entry is not a problem. Take care who you use a guide - the modern way is for every member to have a receiver and ear piece and the guide speaks into a mike system that enables everyone to hear. This is definitely a better way.

Spent 4 hours roaming around Prague Castle grounds on a sunny day in December. We purchased the ticket that permits entrance into almost all of the buildings on the grounds. It is worth the trip - St. Vitus was stunning, as was the Old Royal Palace and Basilica of St. George (which is a must see). We walked from Old Town rather than taking the trolley/tram, which is a great way to see more of Prague.

Beautiful castle complex in Prague. Note how I say complex and not just castle - there are so many beautiful buildings here (especially the church) that it deserves to be called a complex. I recommend either taking the scenic Charles Bridge walk to get here or taking the metro if you want to skip the huge hill. You really can spend a day at Prague castle, especially if you purchase a pass that allows your entrance to extra activities. The golden lane was particularly memorable with small shops and an awesome antique armor and torture machinery exhibit/hallway. Even if you don't buy a pass you can still appreciate the old fashioned beautiful architecture and get peeks at certain buildings like the church in the middle that is perhaps the most impressive looking building. If you are coming to Prague and desire to do tourist-y things, put Prague castle at the top of your list.

It's nice telling about there history, but you have to have a guide with you other wise you will be bored ,But there was a cathedral there that is worth millions and millions of pictures you should visit
