This is one of Prague's most famous attractions for a reason, and it doesn't disappoint. Amazing views of the river, and a great place to go see some unique street vendors and performers.

what a fairytale place...statues of saints and heroes on the bridge, huge nightclubs at one end, old town gates at the other, the castle overlooking the vista...and good looking ladies all around! :-)

Charles Bridge is regularly cited as one of the world's most popular bridges, being regarded in rather exclusive company along with other highly recognisable bridges such as Rialto (Venice), Ponte Vecchio (Florence), Golden Gate (San Francisco) and Towers Bridge (London).

What we love about Charles Bridge is that it is perfectly situated, linking the historic districts of Mala Strana to the Old Town, providing an scenic, enjoyable and special crossing point for tourists. It is a most pleasant stroll that we always look forward to when in Prague.

During our visit this past March, we were lucky enough to have snowfall, affording us fantastic images on Charles Bridge. The snow on the bridge and statues of various saints, set against the stark Prague skyline, made for some beautiful black and white photography and another memorable experience on Charles Bridge.

Of interesting note, Charles Bridge was built in the early 15th century and is just over 600 meters long, being roughly 10 meters wide and supported by 16 arches. There are 30 statues of saints positioned along the bridge. These are mostly replicas with the originals now being housed in the National Museum. There are also Three historic bridge towers, stations at the ends of Charles Bridge, two on the Old Town side and one on the Mala Strana side. These are equally impressive and worth a few minutes of your time to inspect.

In the end, its difficult to imagine visiting Prague and not crossing or at least seeing Charles Bridge. This is one of a handful of iconic attractions in the city that really shouldn't be missed. It is also one of our favourite bridges in the world. Charles Bridge really should be on all visitors 'must-see' list of things to experience when in Prague.

Must see landmark in Prague. Do yourself a favor and go early in the day before the big crowds - sunrise is spectacular from the bridge. Sunset is also lovely, but very crowded, at least in July when I was there.
