Owner description: The Old Town Hall is one of the most significant monuments in the Czech Republic. It was established in 1338 as the administrative seat for Prague's Old Town. Now, it is mainly used for the ceremonial purposes of the capital city, Prague. The historical town hall consists of a set of five medieval houses, the corner of which is adorned with a historical astronomical clock, a gothic oriel window and a massive rectangular tower. The lookout gallery on the town hall tower offers the most beautiful view of Prague. A tour of the historical halls in the Old Town Hall is a unique experience. The expensively decorated rooms date from various periods and are examples of the remarkable development of the town hall complex. The guided tours in various languages are organised in hourly intervals.

Well worth CZK100 to get to the top of the tower and get a magnificent view of the entire city - the Astronomical clock is a must seen as it is still working. Avoid restaurant in that area as there are tourists trap.

The clock is incredible from a historical perspective. Go early to watch the hourly display. Grab a coffee in a nearby cafe and watch the apostles appear. The figures next to the clock represent vices such as greed. The short display is worth an early morning visit.

old town itself if beautiful and filled with stalls - food and souveniers and is also filled with restaurants and pubs and if you would like a horse&cart ride there is a que of horses waiting for you to hop in .

We went up to the top of the clock where the view is fantastic everything looks different from so high up , we went at around 11am/12 and alot of people seemed to go then too , so i would recommend going at a random time , because there isn't alot of space to walk around and the less people the better

The workmanship on the clock is fantastic, but the striking of the hour was anti-climactic.
The trip to the top on a clear day is absolutely worth it. Stunning views of the city all around. We took the lift up and the ramp down. There aren't stairs in the tower but a well designed ramp that eased our way down past descriptive placards and clock gear.

it is a neat clock. not the greatest thing to see in the square. people crowd around to watch the show on the hour. either go very early or very late otherwise you will be in a concert type crowd like cattle herding there way to the slaughter line.
