“Great pub”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 22, 2012

Great pub, great meats, gulash, beer, good service, cheap price, just a bit smoky for who is not accustomed. Good for friends, more than families or business. It's a pub, do not pretend a fine restaurant. Strongly suggested. (impressive the fried goat cheese, for strong people)

“A hidden gem”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 2, 2012

Visited here with my husband last night. From the outside this restaurant looks like an ordinary pub that you may just walk past. Don't! Go in, take a seat and enjoy some delicious local cuisine with the Czec locals.
I ordered onion soup to start, then grilled pork, pork neck, and potato dumplings...........delicious. My husband had grilled pork loin with peppercorns, which was very very spicy but also delicious. The starters, mains and sides, one dessert, plus 3 beers and a a spirit mixer and soft drink came to only 697 KC (approx 27 Euros).........and there was a lot of food.
We saw people ordering the pork knee and mixed meat skewers which looked amazing too.
Not all the staff speak any English, but that's half the fun when you're abroad. Would I visit here again?..........Absolutely!

“Luckily we missed the smoke”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 1, 2012

It was another hot day and it was not cool in this restaurant. Luckily there was little smoking. Having had a lot of heavy meals, we went for vegetarian fare. I ordered a casserole of vegetables and blue cheese while my husband had fried cheese and dumplings. These were good. We shared potato pancakes, which were so well done as to resemble a hockey puck. With an unfiltered large beer and a Coke, the total was less than $17.
Our hotel had not recommended this restaurant and when asked why said that it was usually so smoky that it was unpleasant.

“Great food for a great price!”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed July 31, 2012

We came here as it was close to our hotel and had good reviews. The food was excellent for the most part. We both ordered soup, which was delicious. The entree's were huge, bigger than American standards. The meat of my husbands goulash was a little fatty but other than that no food complaints. The service was good and has an overall nice 'local' atmosphere to it, not the normal touristy type you find closer to downtown. The only reason it is not 5 stars is because the whole restaurant was smoking. I would recommend it as long as the smoke doesn't bother you.

FYI - we had 2 soups, 2 entree's, and 3 beers total and it cost 447czk.

“Excellent Food in a casual surrounding”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed July 8, 2012 via mobile

This restaurant was recommended to us by the local Hotel General. It's a very casual restaurant, nearly like a pub restaurant. Unfortunately, they only tables in the smoking area, as the Euro finals were on, so we accepted nonetheless. We were happy we did. The restaurant provided very good Czech food, with good quality ingredients and at very reasonable prices. They were happy to modify the meals for our children, without fuss, and provided everything as requested for them. Not knowing what genuine Czech food is, I can only comment that we really enjoyed our meals. An obvious favorite with the locals, as they all turned out to see Germany lose against Italy! By the way, i have never seen such efficient and overworked wait staff at any other restaurant.
