“Cosy basement blues klub”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed October 11, 2011

Went there on a hunch.
Down in an old coal cellar there's a bar to the right and a club with aprox. 40 seatings to the left. Entry 120 CZK = 5 EUR.
Music is as name reveals mainly blues in different versions. Bands mainly local-who-never-amount or opcoming. Atmosphere quite bluesy - a couple of old couches up front but otherwise café/lounge chairs and tables. Rustique !
Small stage which barely upholds more than a quartet, but good sound.

A pint of beer is CZK 29 - we also went for 2 x rhum and coke (2x4cl.booze) for outrageous CZK 120 total.

A great place to start the night or just chill out after a day at foot . . .

Recommendable . . . just don't tell to many about it !

“My Many Visits to Sklep...”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed June 29, 2011

My husband & I love Jazz & Blues, so most of our vacations are scheduled around some Blues or Jazz Festival woldwide... We go to Czech Republic about three times a year and have been visiting quite a few Jazz Clubs, but this one has become our favorite.. I must point out that drinks or atmosphere are not as important to us as the music. In fact, we often get here early, then by arrangement half way through the show go for a snack & beer to nearby O'Che's Pub, only to return later....The club is the main reason why we stay at U Krale Jiriho (George's Hotel); again, by doing it regularly, we request a special room on the top away from the street, to get a good night's sleep. The music is fabulous, also the clientele - "Jazz Buffs" like us, from Prague & elsewhere.

“Cosy atmosphere, average priced drinks, but too smoky”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed May 15, 2011

We searched on the web to find a nice cosy place to listen to some jazz in Prague - with so many to choose from - we ended up plucking this one out of the air.

It was off the main streets and, as many of them are, down in the basement.

Drinks were pretty standard prices and the beer was cold. The music was good too and we ended up having a really good night overall. Definitely worth a visit if you are in Prague and looking for intimate jazz and blues venues to listen to some good quality music.

The only slightly negative thing, and I think this is true of all the underground blues and jazz bars in Prague, was that if you are not used to heavy cigarette smoke in clubs then it's a bit of a shock to the system.
