We went to see a classic ballet "Swan Lake". To say the least we were very disappointed.
The Ballet troupe appear to be a cast of second rate amateur's who were quite bored by the performance they gave. The choreographer gave a very unique interpretation of this well known classic ballet - that had very little resemblance to the original ballet. This included music from other composers. The lighting is done like a high school play as well as the on stage sets. The music is of course playback (no live musicians). The venue facility is terrible - there is no air conditioning - or at least it was not working - we all were sweating in our seats. Speaking of seats - there was zero leg room your knees hit the seat in front of you.
Bottom line - stay away from Swan Lake and this venue in general. A waste of time and money!

I watched the best of Swan Lake and it was disappointing. The theatre is very small, so it does not make a change where you sit, you're always close to the 'dancers'. The music is not live. There were like 20 dancers in total, not more then 6 male dancers and they were seriously of an average amateur level. Only the Odylle/Odette was ok and the only one who could be professional. As a dancer myself I feel ashamed and upset, that this can be sold like this!

We went to see the Best of Swan Lake which featured soloists form the State Opera and National Theatre Prague. It was fantastic; drinks in the cafe/bar were cheap and good. The theatre itself was the smallest theatre we have ever been in. We were in row 10, and the dancers were full on in front of you as the theatre is shelved so good clean views. Performance lasted two hours, with a 15 mins break which was great, time just right, seats not uncomfortable at all and the dancing was absolutely superb. The stage scenery was contemporary and a bit odd, but the whole thing was just great. Cloakroom was 10kr and bonus there were loads of toilets so no queuing for those. A wonderful evening. I just wished taken along a flower or two, and the prima ballerina didn't get a bouquet of flowers, and she certainly deserved it.

We were quite excited about watching the Swan Lake... but Hybernia was dissapointing. We expected a "real theater", with a orchestra pit, a big stage, boxes... But we found a bar with dance music (we felt like in a disco, not like in a theater), a single stair to go to our "open seats" (not numbered), small stage, not too good quality big speakers, and a 15 to 20 ballet company in which 4 or 5 made a real effort and did it quite well (the female leading role, the magician), but the rest was like being in a school play...

The outside of the theater really looked nice but once inside, found it about average. I had booked our seats through PragueExperience.com. There was a little confusion about where our seats were located by the attendant. I had purchased middle priced seats and have to say that sitting so close to the stage was not for me. We were on the third row. The first thing I noticed was how dirty the stage floor was. Now I know toe shoes and such can shed but this was the first performance of the evening. It seemed that this might have been a maintenance issue. The rest of the theatre seemed fine even though it was not up to the standard of the National Theatre. The accoustics for the music was nice. The dancers did a nice job however if you have watched ballet at all, you could tell they were not the same quality as in the National Theatre but you have to start and progress somewhere. The dancers were enjoyable. The male and female leads were VERY good. Next time, I would choose a seat farther back.

The theatre is located on Republic Square and is VERY easy to recognize and get to.
