“good for a cheap break”
Reviewed April 19, 2014

Nice hostel and very good price. Its a bit off-putting to look at from the outside with graffiti but its actually grand inside. Its a five minute walk from the reception but just make sure you remember where ragtime is on the map for going back at night as there's no sign above the door and no one seems to know it. Overall its fine for a short break. Nice spacious rooms

We stayed in the double room. Room was clean, as was the bathroom and kitchen. Free tea and coffee in communal kitchen was nice. Strong wifi signal in our room, as the router was located in our room. Drawbacks were that the reception is located at another hostel 5 minutes walk away (feels longer with luggage!) you have to wait there for the owner to arrive and take you to Ragtime. The exterior is heavily graffiti-ed which is slightly off-putting, but not really a problem. Good location, short walk from the train station and main square. There are only 4 or 5 rooms total, so not too noisy or crowded.

Room Tip: Have cash on you, as you can only pay cash.

It's a good place for short stay. Great location (5 minutes walk to Old town). Staff is very friendly. Rooms are big and clean. There is a fully stocked kitchen.
If sharing bathroom and kitchen with one more room bothers you, you better find another place to stay. Except that everything is just fine.

p.s. The hostel doesn't have own reception, so you have to check-in at Hostel Emma nearby.

We made the reservation through booking.com. Ragtime does not have a reception onsite, so -as instructed by booking.com - we went to hostel Emma (about 450 m from Ragtime) where we were met by a man who took us to Ragtime, explained everything about the lodging and gave us the keys. We were pleasantly surprised: we were afraid that shared bathroom meant a lot of bedrooms and one bathroom. Instead, our room was part of a 2-bedroom apartment with a modern fully equipped kitchen and a spacious, well-heated and freshly refurbished bathroom. We barely saw the people in the other room. Our room was simple but there was everything we needed. When we checked out, we left our luggage at hostel Emma (open 24x7). The entrance to Ragtime is not that appealing: there was a lot of graffiti on the walls and no sign referring to a hostel but it did not really matter. Ragtime provided everything we needed - a good night sleep and a hot shower, even a nice view from the window and it was at a walking distance from the main attractions. Next time when we shall go to Prague, we would be happy to stay at Ragtime again

Ragtime was a very positive surprise! Even though the outdoor and the area looks a bit dirty, the rooms are really clean, spacious and nice. And the location is great, few minutes walk to Old town square and lot of nice pubs right outside the hostel. Would totally recommend this to everyone!

Ragtimes double room prices were one of the cheapest I found. I wasn't sure what to expect but it was a very nice surprise! The rooms were very big with big windows and very nice furniture. The bed was comfy and there was everything we needed in the room. We shared a bathroom with one more room. It felt like a private apartment. Everything was nice and clean. Hot shower free coffee or tea and nice location. Only a 10 minute walk from the old town and karlov bridge. Very easy to get to from florenc bus station or airport.

Hostel RagTime was one of our favourite places that we stayed on our interrail trip.
The location is pretty perfect: the neighbourhood felt safe; lots of affordable bars/restaurants/cafes nearby; and within walking distance of the sights.

Kitchen was well equipped and had a dishwasher, thumbs up. The bathroom and toilet (although only one) were new and clean. The bedroom had another room with a dining table in adjoined to the main room. The only thing that really let it down was that the mattress needed replacing. Change that and this place would be perfect for couples travelling on a budget.
