We were looking for a restaurant near our hotel so the menu here looked OK (if not a little more expensive than others, but still reasonable). We initially sat inside on the main level, then read in the menu about their cellar – so we investigated and found an absolutely delightful arched cellar area, beautifully decorated in “modern medieval” style. It was quiet, service prompt and friendly, and best of all, the food was excellent. I had “roast beef”, cooked to perfection - who said Prague doesn’t do rare beef?
It was after that we looked it up on Trip Advisor and were amazed to read the many negative reviews. Our experience bore absolutely no resemblance to any of those. The bill was exactly in accordance with the menu, and the service and food superb. There was a note on the menu about the meal being free if you were not given a full check when requested, so maybe that is in response to what appeared to us to be previous problems. To reiterate, we had a great evening, and so handy to our hotel (the Ibis and Novatel Wenceslas Square are right around the corner). Don’t be deterred by past reviews, it was great.
(By the way, paying for bread, condiments etc. is standard practice in Prague even if not specifically mentioned on the menu - it's the same at every restaurant, not a sign that you are being conned.)
