We did a bit of research on TA prior to our visit and read about this place, however totally forgot and we wandered in for a coffee, biggest mistake of our trip.
This is located on Wenceslas square on the corner where the tram runs across it, it looks a modern building with big glass windows and quite inviting as a great place to people watch.
Anyway we wandered in and decided on 2 coffes and the waiter upsold us to large ones not realising large = double the cost (our istake) 360 crowns later and the waitress said that doesnt include a tip we left with a bit of a bitter taste specially realising that I had read the reviews on here prior'
Anywaya word of caution to others out there, please be aware of this cafe

Our first day, first drink and snack to eat after arriving in the morning by plane. So we were not yet into the Prague policy of ripping of customers... If You ask the bill they bring a printed bill and bring also a calculator. The waitress charged 15% extra 'for the service'. This was calculated with the calculator but was not printed on the bill itself??? We paid it but thought it was weired. Later we checked the internet and saw that that kind of ripping of tourists is common in Prague. Especially at square Wenceslas and square Old Town. So don't eat or drink around those 2 squares. If You want a good barometer for a place that is honest: look at te price for a beer: between 25 and 36 krones for half a liter beer is a good price. If the price is higher it's a ripof! Fortunately we only let us ripof once!

Stay away! These rip-off merchants give Prague a bad name.

Situated on a busy corner of touristy Wenceslas Square, it seemed like the perfect place for a morning coffee. Just wish we'd read the reviews here on TA first. 3 fairly ordinary coffees later the bill arrives. $A30+ for the 3 coffees (including a compulsory 20% tip for the crap service we got) left a very bitter taste in my mouth.

This made it easily the most expensive coffee we've had anywhere in the world.

Just stay away. There's great food and drink to be had in Prague for a fraction of the prices these thieves charge.

This joint really outraged me!

At first there seems nothing special here... Everything is a little cheapish, the food poor but that is OK with me.

Then the bill... I will not make a long story of this. They charge 160 CZK for a coffee. And if you think that the total amount (740 CZK for close to nothing) they insult you even more by demanding extra money that is not on the bill (tax fraud?): 120 CZK because 'Service is not included'.

The mentality of the owners of Cafe Boulevard, close to the place where Jan Palach set himself on fire, made the visit to the Wenceslas Square unforgettable for me.
