“Mixed feelings”
Reviewed February 21, 2014 via mobile

My husband and I stayed in the Deminka Palace in February. The staff were very helpful and friendly. Lovely entrance hall, a very well kept hotel. Our room was very nice and a good size. It was extremely clean and tidy. The breakfast was very nice, lots to chose from. The fresh hot pastries were really good.
Although the hotel was close to Wenceslas square, in order to get there you have to go through two underpasses and a not very nice park (that was fine during the day but not after dark). For this reason only I would not chose this hotel again.

This is basically one apartment block turned into a hotel. Right in the centre of Prague, between Muzeum and IP Pavlova stations. All connections within close and walking distance and in one legendary pub/cafe just on the corner.
Service is very friendly and helpful with good language skills and not shy to engage the conversation and recommend places to visit or see.
The rooms are not actually just rooms. It's whole apartments with small kitchen, living room and bedroom. All with new furniture, the rooms are reconstructed in very nice way and with good view.
Breakfast served at the top floor, with good choice of hot and cold food, without anything to complain about.
There was a movie shooting when we were staying, but it didn't affect the service of the hotel at all and was actually something refreshing or interesting to see:)
If going to Prague, this is the place you won't regret to stay at...

I'm travelling to Prague regularly for business and have stayed at many hotels in Prague. Deminka is the one I keep coming back to. he rooms are spacious and clean and the staff is friendly and the location is perfect with walking distance to city center, major attractions and metro. I would definitely recommend this hotel for both business and pleasure trips.

This place is not 5 stars, not by a long shot. The service was very hit and miss, the first person we had the displeasure of greeting us at the check in desk was an absolute smartass, really bad first impression of both the hotel and Prague. The view was of a courtyard. The breakfast was incredibly average too. Service? Not really included. Each time we asked for something we either had to do it ourselves or it just was not done. For example, we asked for a taxi to be called (pretty simple request right?) as we were headed to the ballet. We came down to reception to ask if the cab had arrived yet, confused and a bit bewildered, clearly the clerk had not bothered to call the cab, forgotten or otherwise. Quite annoying as we missed the opening quarter of the show and furthermore we ended up going and finding our own cab because the one the clerk had called was taking forever. A sidenote here, normally we would just hail our own, but Prague is absolutely notorious for ripping tourists off in taxis, so we thought it best to use the hotel. What a joke.

The little things were annoying too, you had to pay for things like omelettes or pancakes at breakfast which is absurd considering breakfast was meant to be included, bathrobes were extra cost apparently (as well as slippers) and the exchange rates and cab services charged by the hotel were a rip off. The bath or "shower" is one of those ones with no shower curtain which is an absolute pain, why do some countries insist on sticking with this antiquated method of bathing? Water just goes everywhere and who has time for a bath every day.

The good things about the hotel were that the room itself was quite comfortable, at least comfortable enough and our room was very quiet which was pleasant. A few of the staff were actually quite lovely towards the end of our stay (two of the ladies on the front desk in particular were very nice, so kudos!) and the location wasn't too bad if you wanted to walk into town but not be right in the middle of the action. It's about a 5-10 min walk to Wenceslas square, however the surrounding area of the hotel itself is nothing special. Not a lot of places to go out or to eat, I'd advise staying on the old side of the river.

Overall the stay was OK, not great at all though. The staff initially really rubbed us the wrong way, quite unpleasant to be around and just made us feel uncomfortable in general. My partner and I are seasoned travelers and normally don't mind if things are a bit off here and there but we were quite unsatisfied with this hotel especially after reading all the lovely reviews. We expected much more. It seems that the suites are a much better option than the rooms, we didn't think there'd be much difference so we went with the room. Once again though, the room wasn't actually the problem. The problem was the average staff, the unwelcoming service, the terrible breakfast and the overall lack of service and style the place should have easily been able to attained. Disappointed to say the least, won't be returning here, probably not to Prague either. Everyone there seems to look at you as though you just spat in their face.

Sorry for bringing my money to your economy!

Room Tip: I suppose pick the suites, not the rooms. High floors are apparently better.

Loved the location, near the subway. Loved the large rooms. Loved the private kitchen and bathroom area. Loved the place. The only concern I had is that they don't really have a restaurant, and we had to eat out most times. Breakfast was quite boring and average. And most of the menu items included pork which I don't eat so I had not many options.

Would go back for the room and location.

Room Tip: The higher the room the better the view
