This place was really cool (not temperature wise, though). I read the reviews on Trip Advisor, so off we ventured over the Charles Bridge to the Lesser Town area. On a much more quiet street stood U Stare Studny. The entrance alone impressed; you are greeted by a view of a wine barrel, stone and bottles of wine, and stone steps leading down to a cellar. It just felt rustic in there. I was intrigued from the start. We proceeded down the steps where we were greeted and asked if we preferred smoking or non, and both my husband and I enthusiastically responded, "Non!" What a relief, since almost every other place we dined had smokers at nearby tables.

Our visit to Prague was almost the last stop on a three-week European road trip loop that took us from Germany to Italy to Croatia to Austria, then Czech and Germany again. We had done some serious eating and drinking in our travels, so by the end of the trip we were getting much more critical and discriminating of our meals. U Stare Study delivers in ambience, wine quality, and attentive service. The cheese, salami, bread, and olives were a perfect light dinner for a couple who had eaten a far too large lunch. I would give it an Excellent rating, but there was a wine bar in Bellagio, (Lake Como) Italy that I enjoyed more.

A lovely surprise in the back streets on the castle side of the river near Charles bridge. Wonder in and down the stairs into cosy cellar type rooms. Wine selection is small for a wine bar but quality was good. We shared antipasto plates czech style and kept ordering. Czech wine was surprisingly good and the whole place was good value. One drawback was no air conditioning in summer-but then again not many places are.

My boyfriend and I came here twice during our trip to Prague after seeing the trip advisor reviews. Both times we had a share plate with meats, cheeses, olives and fresh bread. Not overly large, but enough to fill us up. The first time we did a pineau des charentes tasting which came with 3 homemade pralines. Amazing! The next time, we sat in the wine cellar part and got to browse their bottles of wine before choosing a bottle to have. The setting in the wine bar is spectacular. It was dead both times we were in there, but the staff did say that it tends to slow down over the summer (people want to enjoy the sun and sit on the patio). Would definitely recommend to anyone visiting Prague!

After reading the reviews on TA we set out to find U Stare Studny, after a pleasant stroll from the Old Town we had no problem finding this lovely little wine bar. We enjoyed a sharing plate and some wine in an almost empty bar. We enjoyed it very much but were surprised that on a Friday evening it was so quiet especially when it has such good reviews.

My husband and I came here after seeing stellar reviews on trip advisor and are so glad we did! It was easy to find and such a unique venue. The setting is just amazing. It's worth it to come here for that alone. We enjoyed several glasses of wine here while taking in the atmosphere. We do wish the offerings by the glass for wine was more extensive but found suitable wines nonetheless. We are not cognac drinkers, but if we had been the selection would have been much larger. This is definitely not a restaurant, as others have mentioned but it doesn't need to be. I'd recommend coming here for sure!!
