From the moment we were greeted at the Prague airport by the Augustine's driver to the moment we were dropped off there five days later, we had an exceptional experience at The Augustine. Our room was pleasant -- spacious and modern -- inside the old monastery with all of its interesting architectural beams and corners. But more than the accommodations, the service was beyond compare. Brigita, the concierge, saw to our every request, and made some expert suggestions as well. Because my husband suffers from Parkinson's Disease, each day is an adventure -- we're never sure if it will be a good one or not. But Brigita recommended the private tours for us with a driver and a guide so we could pace our sight-seeing. We did two such tours -- one within Prague and another to Kutna Hora and the spectacular St. Barbara cathedral, with a stop at a privately-owned castle on the way. Throughout our stay in Prague, we felt so comfortable returning to the hotel at the end of the day. Enjoying the St. Thomas beer in the 1887 Pub was a treat in the late afternoon -- the beer had been brewed at the monastery though now it is brewed off-site, but is only available at the hotel. Elegantes restaurant did not disappoint either where we enjoyed a spectacular dinner our first evening in Prague, as well as breakfast each morning. The location of the hotel is right near St. Nicholas cathedral and within walking distance to Prague Castle. We were able to make the climb, although we took it slowly, to the main entrance of the castle. Since the tickets to the castle are good for two days, it would be an excellent location to stay and be able to explore the castle at your leisure if you had the time. We were there for only a short time and didn't take the opportunity to use the spa facilities, but we did tour them and perhaps would have indulged if we'd been there longer. But it was a wonderful visit in every way!
