We were quite disappointed with this restaurant having read some very good reviews on Trip Advisor. True, the atmosphere was good and it was fairly full with young families when we went early one evening but the room itself was shabby and although the waiter was very friendly and helpful, the food was very average. The menu only had one fish dish which was the day's special and I realise this is not uncommon for restaurants in Prague as almost everything is geared to meat eaters. The fish in question which was billed as 'cod' was small, thin and grey. I had the celeriac Suisse as an accompaniment and it was extremely salty. My partner had the goose which looked (and apparently tasted) as if it had lived just a bit too long, with dumplings which turned out to be made of polenta. Nothing wrong with that I suppose but the whole meal was rather dull. It was our first experience of Czech food and not a particularly good one. I'm not sure why some reviewers managed to have so much food for apparently so little money because our two courses with two drinks came to just over £30 not particularly cheap, especially for Eastern Europe. My advice, give it a miss.

“Slightly overrated for a modest restaurant”
Reviewed December 17, 2012

I guess beauty is in the eye of the beholder, but this restaurant did not live up to the expectations suggested by other reviewers. Price seemed quite high for a limited menu and only average food. We ate just one course with local beer and the price was over 800 CK.

“nice atmosphere”

Good varied menu and nice comfortable surroundings. Reasonably priced. The seating is well spaced so that you are not sitting on top of other diners.

“Returned again - great meal, great value”
Reviewed December 6, 2012

For all round ambience and a great meal at a great price, (having been to prague 4 times|) you will be hard put to find any where who produces better food at a price that will NOT hurt your pocket. Great service. Stick to local house wine (back of menu) and you are on to a winner. At end of Charles Bridge (heading back to city direction) turn right (this is the main road) and take road on left that slopes in at an angle- (say 150 yards) - restaurant is on right in 200 yards on corner.
