Owner description: Every country has its symbols and legends and the Czech ones include Pilsner Urquell lager which has been brewed in a town called Plzen (Pilsen) since 1842. Since then the fame of Pilsner Urquell beer has spread around the world and, inspired by this exceptional brew, more than two-thirds of the beers produced today are commonly known as pils, pilsner or pilsener. The brewery tour showcases all of the authentic places where Pilsner Urquell lager has been brewed for more than 175 years, and where its story continues today. You will see the heart of the brewery - both the historical and contemporary brewhouse. You will smell and taste the raw materials that are used to brew Pilsner Urquell, and the panoramic cinema will take you through the brewing process. And at the end you will taste unfiltered Pilsner Urquell beer tapped straight from oak lager barrels in the historic brewery cellars. The brewery is open year-round. The journey from Prague takes about one-and-a-half hours and you can either travel on your own by car, bus or train.

The tour takes you all around the various buildings on a beer bus. The bottling area was fascinating and the kettle room smelled amazing. The tour guide was very good and it was fun to taste the beer out of the barrels in the cellars. A long and in-depth tour and worth the ticket cost. There are lockers, but bring your coat because a lot of the tour is outside or in chilly areas.
The gift shop had great well-made mugs made in the Czech Republic for low prices. Our clerk was very nice and spoke English. They take credit cards. Don't miss this tour!
Excellent day trip for beer lovers: Brewery Museum in downtown Pilsen, Na Parkanu for lunch, Pilsner Urquell Brewery tour.

Been in the gift shop to buy some souvenirs. Items were nice but staff is very unpolite and incompetent. No english speaking personal and calculation wrong amounts to pay.

You can learn about the long history and technology of super beer production during public factory tour. Pilsner beer means the beer from the town of Plzen (Pilsen in german). After that enjoy Czech meals and The beer directly from the tank in their own restaurant.

This was one of the best tours we have ever been on. Our guide gave us clear explanation for every part of brewery and she had answers on all our questions. It was interesting to hear about Pilsner history, see bottling plant, taste ingredients such as malt and hops,... but the best part was tasting of non-filtered beer directly from the oak barrel in the historical cellars.

The Pilsner Urquell Brewery tour is one of the best brewery tours I have been on! It is incredibly informative with an in-depth look at the bottling plant, an interactive tour of their Old Brew House and "museum" and a tour of the cellars where you can try unfiltered Pilsner directly from the oak barrels. (Bring a jacket/sweater if you get cold as you are down there for a good amount of time).

Our guide was incredibly informative and made the 90 minute tour fly by. This is a great half day trip from Prague (about 2 hour train ride or 1.5 hour drive if you go with a tour group).

I recently wrote about the wonderful experience on my blog:
