Owner description: If you want to learn everything there is to know about beer, come and visit the Brewery Museum in Pilsen. It is located in the Pilsen centre in a 15th-century building with an original license to brew beer, which breathes the atmosphere of the Middle Ages. The Museum tells the story of the production, serving and drinking of beer from antiquity to the present time. Visitors aged 18 and older can look forward to tasting Pilsner Urquell beer there. On your visit to the Brewery Museum, pop in the Na Parkanu taproom, with its unique atmosphere of the 1930s. Go back in time and enjoy remarkable unfiltered Pilsner Urquell beer.

I am a beer geek and found this museum to be only of interest to persons who are fascinated with beer making. As a museum, it is poor with boring static displays of equipment used in the past as Czech beer making developed. Not too informative about the complexity of beer making but it did offer some interesting historical bits about the history of beer consumption - like Egyptians were big consumers. Don't take kids there as they would be bored: and they don't get the 1 free beer afterwards. Decent printed guide available in different languages since labels in the museum are in Czech.

Nice museum for 90 CZK, is around 4 euros. Not that much to see. You receive a paper that explains items along the way.
At the end you get a free beer in the bar next door. Beer normally costs around 25 CZK.

So if you already visited a brewery before, skip this one and go directly to the bar.

Please note that there is the Brewery Museum and the Brewery itself. You can also visit the brewery but that costs 190CZK, around 8 euros. We didnt visit it, because we have seen breweries before. But i guess you get a better idea of how beer is made than at the Brewery Museum in the city center.

Went through with two friends... one that is an avid and very experienced home brewer and one that is just an enthusiast. Both enjoyed the tour, and the brewer geeked out on some of the exhibits. Lots of historical pieces here, that help to provide some context to the Pilsner Urquell tour.

You will receive a .3 litre beer token with your tour. The tour cost 90CZK and took us just over an hour to go through.

Well worth the time, and beats many beer museums that I have gone through.

This museum is must see for beer drinkers, there is one of the best typical czech pilsener pub connected with this museum, must see to take a beer during your visit. Amazing.

See my other posts about Plzn, it's really all about visiting the 'Mecca' of beer, if you can say that
