We visited the Cathedral of St. Barbara with our guide, Jana Bauerova. She was very knowledgeable in her delivery of the information she gave on the structure of the cathedral. It was an excellent tour by Jana. I highly recommend that anyone who is interested in visiting castles and cathedrals should definitely see this one.

Amazing stained glass windows and great views across the Town. A very peaceful place on the edge of town.

This cathedral is the gem of Kutna Hora. The tented roof is like nothing you've ever seen, and the facade is something to behold. Inside is interesting, especially, with the special connection to mining history of the town.

What I found interesting is how there are pictures of miners and there is a statue of a miner in a cathedral. Most cathedrals have religious icons, pictures, statues etc. I also thought the styles of the various architects were obvious and unique. When you look up at the ceilings, half is in a floral shapes whereas the other half is more traditional in style. Beautiful cathedral inside and outside. Be sure to check out the gargoyles outside. I was told the water from the rain comes out of their mouths!

Easy train ride from Prague (about 1:10 hr). You take tran to main Kutna Hora station and then take the small train into town. First stop has the ossuary church. Skip this.

Get off at second stop (only two stops for KH) and walk up to the old part of town. Several cafes at Italian Plaza. Several old churches in the area, but St. Barbara blows them all away. It has just been refurbished and looks amazing. Sits up on a cliff overlooking the city and the grounds are immaculate. Nice walk past the Jesuit Collge to get here with lots of statutes on the way.

We left Prague on the noon train and came back on the 5:00 train and that's plenty of time. Be prepared for not being able to find a seat ont he 5:00 train though, so you may want to consider coming back on the 3:00 or 6:00 pm trains (assume you can get seats on those) or get a reserved seat in 1st class for the return (assume you can).
