We go to karlovy vary every 6 month for the past 10 years due to health condition of my mum. So, we've been to most restaurants there. And we've been to James grill many times. The food is great, life music is lovely and it is on a canal, so view is also perfect.
However one day we came there, odered the same dishes as we normally do and got absolutely different rubish something... The steak was half size and seafood was not with big prawns, but with little shripms. As we found out later, the owner of this lovely place was away and the personel was making 2 dishes out of 1. Price for one they then gave to the owner and for the second they devided between personel.
The annoying thing was that the waiter Kolya (from russia) knew us very well, he remembered our names and knew that we perfectly know what the dishes should be like, but still he tried to do this to us. I guess this tactic works well with people that never been there before.
My advice would be to go there only when the owner is personally there. It's a shame that such a good restaurant with great food is spoiled by cons. And poor owner... they con him first of all.
