“One of the best places we've been to”
Reviewed May 7, 2013

One of the best places we've been to: location was amazing, the hotel it self is more like an old palace, and "old" is used in all the positives and with none of the negatives sense. The food(breakfast) was good but not great but the hotel itself is something else. Stay there and you'll feel like one of the movie stars that stayed in the same room (rooms have pictures of famous people that stayed there up on the walls). The bed was like the ones Kings had and the whole decoration of the restaurants, ball rooms etc are also King-like.
We also used the spa facilities which were, again, amazing, and included in the price. Stayed there July of 2007.

Beside the bad shape of some rooms and the soviet style service (lot of people standing around but only a few are helpful) the worst fact about this hotel is that they are very rude to families travelling with children. You get the most terrible rooms and children are not allowed in the pool area. The hotel management and the whole city of Karlsbad do not welcome children. They have a new pool and increased their prices to let you pay for it, but they don't let you use what you payed for. So be warned: I is a total rip of. Don't go there with children!!!

We just stayed one night in a newly renovated room. It was a wonderful room! Big and beautiful with a great view! It was expensive but I always say that you get what you pay for!. Nice service and a very nice breakfast. Like we stayed in a castle =). We loved it! The weather was not nice but the trip was nice anyway.
Beautiful hotel with old history.

Within the next weeks opening of Pupp Royal Spa and for the first time in its 312 years existence a swimming pool! Although major construction activities are in progress it does not affect the Luxury stay at the hotel, although occasionally a truck is passing by and stopping for loading or unloading building materials. Many rooms are re-decorated and freshly painted, in the traditional and original style (just fresh again). Service is splendid as ever, swift, friendly, efficient, with a personal touch; in short a guest will not find any shortcoming although some of them are very demanding!
As Grandhotel Pupp has many different rooms and the hotel is actually divided in 2 sections; Park Hotel and GrandHotel it does not have any difference quality is the same. In the Grandhotel rooms are lager and services goes it little bit further and breakfast is more complete. And of course Grandhotel is more expensive.
This time I had an extreme large room on 4th floor and although color scheme was not mine (I thought I was in Barbies room) the stay is pleasant as ever.
And it is still funny to see people visiting the Hotel and hear all the comments about the Grandeur; you hate it or you like it; nothing in between!
In case you are guest and have a spare moment, admire the hundreds of photographs in the throughout the halls, restaurants, bars.

Room Tip: Ask for room Front View on floor 2 or higher

Before coming to Grandhotel Pupp, I was a little bit worried if the grandeur of the hotel was still as my grandmother remembered it as a small girl. I gave it a try and bingo! This hotel is surely the grandest, most elegant hotel in the country.
The lobby, beautiful ground floor, great hallways, elegant rooms (I love the tall white elegant doors), everything well maintained and clean, I loved it all. I am sure my American friends would go gaga over it. I had a junior suite facing the main entrance and therefore the spa promenade. It is certainly worth it to ask for a room facing the entrance not the side by casino entrance.
The staff was perfect: the valet parking guy (agreed to take my car to car wash in his spare time), the liftboy (opened the main door for us every time), luggage service, the maid (when she noticed that my daughter didn´t sleep in the prepared baby bed but on the couch, she arranged the beddings and her toys on the couch so nicely for the next night), first class service in the bar and restaurants.
Breakfast buffet was excellent, with large selection of pretty much everything, including fish, made-to-order pancakes or eggs any style you want. The dinner was also a very nice experience, the food was ok but again, the surroundings and the waiters made it a great night for us.
Karlovy Vary is a beautiful town and this great hotel makes it our favorite weekend trip from Prague. I will be back in the spring to try out the new spa once it opens!

Althougn the Hotel looks beautiful, once inside the first thing to notice is how old it looks, rooms are very outdated, with even 14 inch tv sets!!! in a 5 star hotel? Bathrooms even in a Junior Suite were ridiculous small, front desk service? Non existent. Food in restaurants very close to average without reaching this minimum. Do yourself a favor, don't stay in this Hotel, they are plenty of smaller Hotels in the City with better prices and rooms.

Room Tip: Forget this hotel

Fabulously Grand Hotel, in the Spa town of Karlovy vary. Well worth the 100 Km trip from Prague.
Gorgeous Ginger bread cute. The town was the favourite respite for German officers during the war, but now, is a favourite location for hollywood. 'Casino Royale and Last Holiday' were shot there at the hotel and around the town.
