You'll hear some folks warn you off this town as being too touristy. Well, it is touristy, in a good way, and it has vitality. This is an absolutely gorgeous village where you will love strolling the cobblestone streets and eating to your stomach's delight. The castle is a must. We didn't have time for the boating options, but they look awesome and can be accessed easily just a short walk from the center. I recommend spending the night so you have a relaxed time. It's a nice drive from Prague, but you will find that compared to the U.S. the Czech Republic is short on interstate-style highways. GPS is a must! This also is a good halfway point heading on to Salzburg...

Visited Cesky Krumlov, Czech Republic as part of a Gate 1 tour, the city is amazing. It is a small, very walkable city that feels like it is lost in time. It is not over-run with tourists like Prague. I am so happy that I had the opportunity to visit this jewel.

We visited Cesky Krumlov on a day trip from Prague. A small medieval town with wonderful scenery, cobblestone streets and lovely architecture,it can be conveniently covered in 3-4 hours. Do wear comfortable walking shoes. The Students Agency bus is a convenient way to reach here from Prague. Advance booking is necessary as these often get full. The route is scenic and the journey comfortable. Well worth a visit

Wear your sports shoes!!! Major cobblestone alert - absolute ankle breakers! This was a beautiful city with such character and so picturesque that it bursts with atmosphere. Do go on the tour of the castle, it's quite fascinating and the art works are beautiful as well as the grounds and gardens. The walk takes you seriously uphill so you'll need to be reasonably fit! There are loads of places to eat and drink. The humidity was severe the day we went but in Autumn it would be divine! A great place to go and I would have loved to. Have stayed overnight - there were so many charming pensions there and it was a friendly and lovely place to be! Watch out for gypsies though ...

I went on a day tour whilst on my holiday. The Castle is beautiful but not too big to make it impersonal. You have to book a guided tour but well worth the visit. The town is very pretty and there are lots of shops and cafes. There is river rafting if you like that sort of thing. It is a long drive from Prague but well worth the trip. I would recommend a longer stay if you can as we did not see all the sights but I would definitely visit again. I can highly recommend this town as a highlight when visiting Prague.
