Description: A Renaissance-period restaurant with meals prepared on open fire

you just have to visit this quaint Czech restaurant. Located either off the Castle gardens (to the right of the fountain, follow the path to the little door that looks like an exit), or outside the Castle wall and around. If you walk through the Castle and come to the Y before the gardens, turn right up the hill. You will come to a building; go to the right side and behind the building to a path/road and turn left up the hill and it will be on your left side. Awesome experience. The owner waited on us that evening and has a dry sense of humor. We had 2 entrees and 4 sides. Can't go wrong with any choices. Pork knuckle is huge, enough for 2 perhaps. All meat cooked on open fire in the center of the restaurant.

Visited this restaurant Feb 2016. Located at the alley and not easy to find but you can easily find it with google map.
Restaurant looks like a big cave. Ordered Pork knuckle and pork rib for me and my wife. Actually it was too much. Two people can share knuckle or pork rib and it might be enough. The pork knuckle was really nice. I strongly recommend to try pork knuckle. In our country Korea most people like pork knuckle that is not barbecued one. It was really delicious and nice. Price seems not so expensive. I though that most restaurants in Czech did not like credit card payments. Service -- so so. very very slow.

I wouldn't call it "a hidden jem" as this restaurant is number 1 or 2 on TA list. Well, perhaps it's location is a bit off the center: it is located outside the castle garden's wall, on the far side of the garden. It is highly advisable to call in advance and make a reservation. This place is very popular.
Meet, meet and meet. Prepared over the open fire. Great presentation, welcoming hosts, very atmospheric. Don't go if you think "I will just have some salad: my husband really wants to have some meet". Let's just say that salads are not the staple of this restaurants. I enjoyed my visit (meet) very much.

Tucked away on the side of the castle gardens, this restaurant serves a range of delicious meat dishes, cooked on an open fire inside one of the restaurant rooms. The decor is simple but in keeping with a medieval theme. It is a meat-lover's paradise, but there are some non-meat options. I had the baked Camembert starter followed by a superb steak, served with a mushroom sauce. We were a Party of 6 and there were no complaints.
Tip: it is quite warm in the room where the fire is. Ask for a table in the outer room if the heat is a Problem.
Value for Money: 6 People, plenty of beer and wine, starters, main course and dessert = €106
