We picked this hotel off of the internet and were not disappointed. The location is great facing the main square and easy walking distance to restaurants and any local town sites. the rooms were very clean and comfortable and semi updated.and had good internet. this town is beautiful at night for photo opportunities. The breakfast had a very good variety and quality and there restaurant was as good as any in town-a good value. All rooms in the hotel are equally quiet and there is very good security in access to the elevators. there is secure car parking that is reached by giving your car to the attendant it is put in an elevator and parked in a garage behind the hotel. be patent with the desk staff as their English is limited.

Room Tip: All rooms are about equal however when choosing dinner reserve a seat in the non smoking room if you...

We just spent the WE at Zvon Grand. I couldn't imagine staying in another place while in Ceske Budejovice. We booked the junior suite, and it had the most magnificent view on the Premysla square. Fast free wifi, free mini-bar and free parking was included!! Only downside is the breakfast which I found very cheap in comparison to what the hotel offers.
Will definitely return only there if I am around again.

I was quite surprised with the quality of this hotel. The only negative I could find is rather ugly reception which in my personal opinion do not really fit to this historic building. The room as well as bathroom was beatiful and spacious (however, there could be more toiletries available, I miss some body milk). The breakfast was very good. You can park there (for fee). In the room is wifi available for free. There is also very good restaurant.
Good hotel for both holiday and business trip.

Location of the hotel is great, right in the centre of České Budějovice city, in historical building (since 16th century). Staff of the hotel was friendly and helpful. The room we spent two nights was clean and comfortable. The hotel includes a few restaurants with interesting offer of meals. We tried the services of Gourmet Symphony restaurant and have been positively surprised. The cuisine definitely stays above the Czech average moreover the prices of meals were reasonable. The price for the room was reasonable a well. On the other hand the biggest negative was breakfast offer. “Breakfast classic” is not sufficient for 4-star hotel located in the heart of city. Besides some of the served rolls and buns were hard (not fresh), very likely left-overs from previous days. Perhaps the negative is also payment 9 €/night for the parking in hotel garages, especially if the entrance into the garages (including the obsolete lift with operating staff) more recalls second half of 20th century. If the management of hotel decides to require the payment for parking within the hotel, should modify the parking infrastructure. The minor deficiency was the bathroom facilities. One small shampoo and shower gel for three persons is too little for such a hotel. Just one bigger (refill) fluid container for shampoo and / or shower gel would be an elegant and simple solution (in line with modern ecological trend).

Classic hotel with big, nicely appointed rooms. I booked a deluxe room overlooking the square and couldn't have been more pleased with size and value. I will definitely stay here again next time I'm in the area.

This hotel is superbly located right on the square and we found reception welcoming. The town itself was not as we arrived by train and discovered there are no taxis at the station and it is very hard to call one. So plan your transfer in advance or know the route by bus. Our room was large and comfortable though there was no air con and the outlook was on a small open shaft and plain walls. There is a reasonably priced mini bar and TV with I think just one international channel. The bathroom is a good size though we found it difficult to use the shower without flooding the bathroom. There was a sort of ill fitting shower panel. Really like everything it was all just a bit too old fashioned and kind of traditional without the charm - it had been renovated charmlessly - I guess in the 70s? Breakfast was bizarre - a long walk down endless corridors to meet an ungreeting array of staff in deep conversation with each other. there is a note on the tables about ordering eggs but when a member of staff finally came to our table they merely pointed at the greying precooked mess on the buffet. Given all the staff it was weird that there was no service and really no welcome. Do they not get any training? Do they have to be taught to smile as guests enter? We did notice we were certainly not being singled out for the cold shoulder. No one was being made very welcome! Coffee was drinkable (just)). The best and friendliest service was offered not just at reception but also by the garage attendant who was prompt, efficient and polite. Why not let him train the breakfast team?

Dear Guest,
Thank you for your valuable feedback, mentioning friendly reception and great location of our hotel. Also, thank you for touching the breakfast staff issue. Unfortunately, it was the day in September, when new trainees came to work for the first time from local hotel school, still without proper identification or sufficient training. We have already taken measures to avoid such a situation in the future and believe we will be able to serve you much better if you decide to stay with us again. Thank you once more for your time.
Kind regards, Petr (GM)

While traveling through the Czech Republic with another couple late August we stayed in Prague and then in Ceske Budejovice, and we were all quite impressed with and enjoyed our stay at the Grandhotel Zvon the most. I must say that I believe that it is the most superior hotel in all the Ceske Budejovice area with reasonable prices. It is in the center of the old town area on the main square which is very convenient to the local sites, shopping, dining and enjoying and afternoon beer or glass of wine. It’s also a great location to stay while exploring other sites nearby, like Cesky Krumlov. The rooms are very nice, clean, comfortable and quite spacious and the service is wonderful. We were also grateful to have air conditioning in our rooms as the weather was still quite warm and we stayed on the third floor (most hotels in the area do not necessarily have air conditioning).

Unlike Prague, the Grandhotel Zvon staff was pleasant, welcoming and genuinely wanted to ensure that we enjoyed our stay, especially Teresa who works at the registration desk. She was always very helpful and outgoing from the moment that we arrived for our stay until we checked out for departure.

Though parking cost is a little pricey, I don’t believe that it is profoundly out of the range for the area and we had the peace of mind that our car was secure 24 hours a day since we didn’t always drive out of town during the day. Besides, the guys really enjoyed their experience with the garage car lift.

The hotel also provides WiFi and LAN internet connection (included in the cost of your room). Breakfast was buffet style (also included in the price of the room) and provided a wide variety of choices (all good) from warm full breakfast of eggs, bacon, ham to toast and rolls or cereal, yogurt and fruit. There is a bar on the first level and two restaurants, one below the main level and the other with seating on the patio off the main square. We enjoyed the fine food and dining on the patio one evening watching the sunset and the rising glow of the soft lights around the buildings as dusk fades and twilight surrounds the main square from our table on the patio. It was beautiful and the food is delicious.

To cap everything off, after we left we realized that we had inadvertently left our jackets in the armoire, but not until we had already crossed the border into Germany. We called and made arrangements to have them mail our jackets back to the US for us. We just received the jackets, about two weeks of our departure, and emailed the hotel staff to thank them and arrange for payment of shipping and handling costs. We received an email response from the hotel general manager (Petr) the very same day and quite unexpectedly he stated that there was no need for payment and the mailing of our jackets was a complimentary service. Needless to say, we most sincerely appreciate the generosity and hope to be able to return to stay at the Grandhotel Zvon again. We definitely recommend it as the best place to stay in Ceske Budejovice!
