After my first meal at Life Is Dream, I was hooked! This immediately became one of my favorite restaurants in not just The Czech Republic but in all of Europe. Honest!
You will be taken aback not only by the very fine, moderately-priced cuisine, but also by the physical layout of the restaurant. It is a combination of several different small rooms on different levels. Please notice how they are on "half-levels", which is unique. And the large aquarium, separating two of the dining areas, is fabulous! It is the perfect addition to a perfect restaurant.
Furthermore, the staff is wonderful. The servers are efficient, and the chefs turn out food so good, that you'll wish this restaurant was "back home", so that you could visit it more often.
On my most recent visit (February 2012), I saw a notice in the front window about how Life Is Dream was recently selected as the best restaurant in Ceske Budejovice for lunch. Since my Czech is not perfect, I wanted to be sure I understood it, and the staff told me I got it correctly.
A final note: Life Is Dream is also a pension. On my latest visit to Ceske Budejovice I decided to stay there in the pension, also. At first, I was worried it might be too noisy, what with the restauranat being right there, but my fear was foundless. It was really very, very nice, with the few guest rooms separated perfectly from the restaurant. I will definitely stay there in the future. And something else about the rooms. Besides being very comfortable, the satellite TV has so many stations in so many languages, that you'll not believe it. I am a linguist, so I can get by in most any hotel in most any country in Europe. However, if you are an English-only speaker, don't worry. You will be entertained by several channels. And German speakers have even more channels to choose from.
In short, you will want to visit Ceske Budejovice again, if only to again return to Life Is Dream.
