“a gem in pretty Czech town”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed June 24, 2013

Stayed here ior 2 nights en route to Cesky Krumlow. The apartment appeared to be newly renovated and equipped with latest kitchen and bathroom facilities and ...joy of joys...a clothes washing machine. Very welcoming front desk. The town lives in the shadow of the charming Krumlow but is well worth a short stop-over as it has an expansive main square, lively restaurant scene and pleasant riverside walks.

Room Tip: some street noise but minor inconvenience considering the many positives

A 2 night stay while traveling through the Czech Republic. We arrived by bus and the residence is about a 10 min walk through a very nice and safe area. We arrived early and our room was not ready. We placed it in storage at the hotel and decided to take the bus to Castle Hluboka. We returned late in the evening, got very good instructions on how to find our room and off we went. Our room was on the 1st floor, so we did not have a lot of stairs to fight with. The room was perfect. It was soo nice to make a cup of tea and have breakfast and snacks in the room...very convenient. The fridge and washer come in handy.

We had issues with the TV, and the front desk attendant came to our room and sorted it all out. Customer service at this property is excellent.

The Black Tower (Cerna Vez) is just steps away and we always looked for it while strolling around town to get us back. If you are physically able, walk the 225 steps to the top...the view is worth it. The town square is also just around the corner.

This place was just what we needed at this stage of our trip. An excellent central location. A huge space. The washing machine and wifi were both great and very handy. The heated drying rack meant our clothes were ready the next morning! We were even lucky enough to get a park right out front and because we were there on a weekend we only had to pay for a few hours.
The staff were friendly and helpful. A mini-mart was next door.

Stayed April 2013. Apartment was close to main square. Large recently renovated with modern equipment including washing machine and large fridge. Spotless. Beds comfortable and well appointed bathrooms. Our tain was substituted by a bus and so we arrived late - staff stayed back to let us in late. Highly recommended for a family, couples or even one couple.

One of the warmest welcome we've ever had! LARGE apartments. Very clean! Great quality/price ratio. It's located about 100 meters away from the town square. We would definitely like to stay here in the future whenever we visit České Budějovice.
The best word that fits the description of the apartment is "WOW"...!

Easy to book on Kayak, nice bar downstairs felt safe inside the square and tons of things to do if you wish to visit this city as a local.

For under thirty dollars us per person (4 people) we stayed in a hotel room bigger and nicer than most homes. We casually mentioned taking a bus to Germany and the next day was a binder of custom printed off maps, locations, prices, sitting inside our room, I've considered since renting a room here for a month and living in Czech as a holiday.

I can't say enough as to how great this location, size and price was of this stay.

Food in this city was exquisite

The tastefully renovated historic building is an apartment or suite that they’ve rented out also as hotel rooms. A drawback however, to this place is that there is no elevator so if your room is on the top floor like ours was, you have to hike up 3 sets of stairs (3 flights/floor so 9 flights altogether). The apartment was a very clean and roomy studio with a full-on kitchen which included a reefer, stove and microwave plus dishes and utensils. There was a king-sized bed, a small dining table with 2 chairs, a couch and coffee table. There also was a balcony outside of the living room area with a nice table and a couple of chairs however, there really wasn’t any city view but instead a view of the other buildings surrounding the apartments.

Our bathroom was roomy however it just had a shower and no bathtub. It did have a small washing machine which was great for us. The only drawbacks were that it took about 1.5 hrs/wash and it wasn’t a washer/dryer combination however, we hung our clothes out on hangers we found in the closet and our clothes dried by morning if we opened the windows.

There was free wi-fi in the room and the TV had several English speaking stations.

We found the front desk and housekeeping staff to be excellent and extremely helpful. Our room came with breakfast and that was probably the one thing that we disliked the most. The service during the regular week was quick and fine although we really didn’t have a choice (like a buffet) of entries. You got whatever they had available for that day to eat. On Saturday, perhaps because these apartments weren’t full, the service was horrible and it didn’t seem to bother the server that customers were seated in the room and hadn’t even been brought juice and/or coffee service.

The apartments are located within the several blocks of the city center so we were in walking distance of the town square which offered little shops, restaurants, bakeries and small markets as well as historical churches and sites to see. There are also several places that exchanged money as well as several banks available during the week.

Parking was available although the lot was located a couple of blocks away from the apartments. It was a rather scuzzy looking lot which initially made us wonder about the safety and security of the place until we realized that it was located right next to the police station. That calmed our fears quickly!
