Great place for the price. View from the room was spectacular as well as the snorkling. Staff was friendly and helpful. Great food at the pool side bar. Resort has some age but room was very nice. Room had all amentities needed. Did not rent a car. Taxis do get expensive.

My wife and I stayed here for 6 nights June 29 to July 5, 2009. We were welcomed properly by the front desk and our bags were carried to the 3rd floor suite by one of the men on staff. The suite was in good repair with only minor issues. There was a small piece of tileoff in the bathroom and was a small stain in one place on the kitchen tile. Neither was offensive to us. The shower was hot but the water pressure was farly low so it took a little longer than usual to rinse off. We had a great view of the harbour and saw some nice sunsets and a rainbow from the balcony. The walk to the beach from the 3rd floor was very easy but did entail proably 30 steps.

The beach was fantastic! It was sof sand perhaps not as soft as some others but still very nice. Entering the water was just a little tricky as there was some coral in places among the sandy bottom. Snorkeling was good on both theleft and right sides of the harbor. We particularly liked the fact that the beach was Palm tree lines and alsohad umbrellas. The sun is intense so shade is great when not in the water.

We walked to Red Hook a few times to save money on taxis. The walk is about 20 minutes but is very hilly and a bit dangerous. There is very little shoulder to road and no sidewalk.

We enjoyed the close proximity to Red Hook and the ferry terminal to St John.

The Blue Moon restaurant had some good foodbuthad a very limited menu at night. We did not eat lunch there. The drinks were good and reasonably priced.

Our primary dislike was the need to take a cab anywhere you wanted to go. Best advice is to make a quick trip to a local grocery strore and stock up, because you'll soon grow tired of buying a $9.00 hot dog from the Blue Moon Cafe everytime you get hungry. The room was great, with a fully equipped kitchen to prepare the groceries you'll be glad you got!

Secret Harbour Beach Resort is a very beautiful place with a nice restaurant and large comfortable rooms. We were there at the beginning of a two week visit to St. Croix, having flown into St. Thomas first to spend the night and then going by ferry to St. Croix the next day. While the attitude of some of the office staff was a bit surly, we were happy enough with our first night that we booked a room for our return stopover in St. Thomas two weeks later.

When I booked the room, having seen the entire facility, I specifically confirmed that the reservation was for a first floor walk-out to the beach room immediately adjacent to the main building of the resort. I have trouble walking any distance and going up and down stairs is difficult. I spoke with the person at the desk who identified for me the room that we were reserving and assured me that we would have that room on our return.

When we returned to the hotel two weeks later, however, we were assigned to a room in the complex furthest away from the main building and to a unit that was on the first floor but up two flights of stairs from the beach. The unit had recently had work done on it and the floor and bath still had dust and footprints from the plaster work that had been done.

On the counter in the kitchen area was a dead, dried up flower in a vase with the welcome note under it. It must have been there for more than a month. Clearly the unit had not been fully cleaned prior to our arrival.

When I complained and asked to be moved to a unit like the one I had been promised, no one returned my call. When I called to speak with the manager, I was told she was not available. As we had no choice, we stayed in the room. When I called again in the morning, I was told that the manager was in a meeting and would call me. When I called again an hour and a half later, I was told the meeting was over and the manager would call soon. The manager finally called about 45 minutes later, had no real explanation for what had happened and agreed to reduce our rate by $25.

When you go to an exotic location, you have no means to fight things like this. If we had refused the room, we still would have been billed for it and we would have had to find alternative accommodations. These folks don't care whether you ever come back and they treat you accordingly. It is a beautiful facility, but the risk is unacceptable in my book.

We went to Secret Harbour for our 30th wedding anniversary and needed something nice that would not break the bank. Secret Harbour is not for the pampered traveller wanting room service, pay tv, and multiple dining options. But it is as close as you can get to a perfect all inclusive without being all inclusive. We could stay there all week and not want for anything but did wander a bit. Our room was attractive and clean with tiled floors and large tiled stand up shower (a little paint chipping on the patio ceiling). We used the frig and microwave but didn't really cook, although we could have. There is maid service with fresh towels everyday, but they did not change the linen every day. That being said, the staff were very nice and the restaurant was excellent. We ate there all but two days because we liked it so well. There is a dive shop right on site for all your water sports needs. We rented our snorkel equipment for the week and went to other beaches like Coki and to one on St. Johns. Our little harbor had the best variety of colorful fish, more in variety and quantity than we saw anywhere else, although Leinster on St. John's was awesome for spotting stingrays and turtles. But we saw those in Secret Harbour (Nazareth Bay) too. We're not shoppers, we're water babies, so we didn't go into Charlotte Amalie. Souvenir shopping in Red Hook and over on St. John's in Cruz Bay was enough and we got some lovely jewelry and t-shirts. The stars at night are spectacular. We don't agree with a lot of reviewers that say rent a car. We liked the taxi services and it was no more expensive than renting a car without the hassle of having to figure out our way around all the time. This was pure heaven.

Unit 421. Not new but perfect. My wife and myself thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Secret Harbor. It was secluded away from the tourist mainstream of the port. Within reasonable distance via taxi or rental car to any location or activity you needed to do. The hotel had all of your amenities you would find at home. All site staff exhibited genuine hometown courtesy to us. The diversity of guests was truly unique; everyone imaginable, Newlyweds, Retirees, Families with young children as well as Families with older children. The only sadness or regret we have is that we wont be able to get back to Secret Harbor as quickly as we want. Let me start this review by saying we are avid Trip Advisor readers . . .we always refer to the site when planning even our shortest trips. In addition, we always take the reviews with a grain of salt, chalking up the "harsh" ones as sour grapes. Well, I can see now where the "harsher" ones are coming from.
We were "greeted" upon arrival by a front desk clerk who was surly at best and snarling at worst. When we asked what we could do while waiting for our room to be ready, she gave a clipped reply, "Go to town." (We just came from there; we wanted to avail ourselves of the amenities at the resort.)
When our room was ready, it was lovely . . . completely remodeled, gorgeous views, very nice. However, since it had been recently remodeled, the cable in the bedroom wasn't hooked up (not a big deal during the day, but nice to relax to before going to sleep!) There wasn't a hair dryer or waste basket in the bathroom ~ but, again, not a huge deal for a completely re-done bathroom ~ quite stunning.
The beach was fine ~ granted, we had just spent a week on St. John, so we were COMPLETELY spoiled by the amazing beaches there. I would compare the beach and water to a Michigan pond. The reef is pretty run down ~ yes, we did see squid, parrotfish, and more ~ but once again, compared to the sheer beauty of St. John and the breathtaking snorkeling there, this is pretty junior varsity! Also, you won't find a soft sand beach here ~ it's a scratchy, coral-based variety that make the kids' feet ginger, and makes them say, "Ouch".
We did enjoy the hotel pool and the swimming platform off of the beach. We also appreciated the amazing service in the Blue Moon Cafe.
Trip Advisor is usually right on ~ this one is a head scratcher through! Not sure what else is available on St. Thomas, but do your research really carefully before choosing Secret Harbour.
