“nice little resort”
Reviewed November 27, 2013

we were greeted with rum punch and a free oceanview studio upgrade - nice start. all the staff was lovely and we received 2 $50 vouchers to be used on the property. the bar has a nice selection of proprietary drinks and the food from the bar (didn't go to the formal restaurant) was all pretty good. my only complaint, and this doesn't really have anything to do with the resort, was the beach was extremely hot. i don't know if it's always like that or if it was the time of year, but there is no breeze. luckily, the water is warm enough that you can easily hang out for half an hour.

We took a taxi to Secret Harbour while our cruise was in town. The beach and water was amazing and we also enjoyed our meal at the grill. Iguanas all over the tree was very neat to see. We were not permitted to use the hotel chairs as we were not guests but we spent the whole time in the water. Staff did come and ask us not to use the chairs very politely and obviously we understood as we were not paying guests. We could have rented chairs from the dive shop but the service in there was surprisingly horrible so we didn't give them any of our money. We were greeted by the dive shop female owner on our way into the beach and she was fabulous. But an older woman was behind the counter when we went in and we were completely ignored for 5 minutes so we just walked out.

The snorkeling was good, but honestly not as great as I'd expected from the reviews. The water was unusually cloudy with sand so maybe it was more turbulent than usual or something. We saw tons of fish though and the coral formations were amazing.

I'd love to return one day and spend a full week here! The taxi was $11 per person each way and the drivers will wait until they are full or will make multiple stops like a shuttle van. It's a way to see more of the island and you'll enjoy the ride. I was very happy that I didn't rent a car as the traffic near the cruise terminal was horrific and our driver took us through extremely narrow back alleys and side streets to avoid it all. It was great!

My husband and I stayed here the week of August 24th thru 31st. 2013. We asked specifically for a room with a patio and we booked this through Expedia , I think. When we arrived and checked in we got a room with a balcony. It was important to have a room with a patio because of a disability. My husband went to speak to the guy who checked us in and he actually argued with him that their was no difference and even googled the definition. We stayed put but made a special trip back to the hotel the next day to speak with the manager in charge, Michael. I think this was his name and I hope I get it right because he was great! He moved us right away. He was familiar with where we were from, New Smyrna beach, Fl and he and my husband had a great conversation! It's really a great location and does feel like a "secret." It's not too big or too small. The harbor is gorgeous! calm and great for swimming. Some have mentioned that the snorkeling is good here but for experienced snorkelers it really isn't but still it is beautiful! We really appreciate how the manager handled our issue! There is a woman who worked the front desk while we were there there and she was always pretty rude when we had a question but whatever, we still enjoyed our stay and will definitely go back! Thank-you again to the manager!

Kevin and Lisa – thank you for reviewing Secret Harbour as a “Great Secret Location”. We agree that the resort does feel like a secret…not too big and not too small. We are pleased that you received remarkable service from Michael, the Resort Manager (yes you remembered his name correctly). He and the extended staff work hard to make our guests feel special. We are sorry to learn that some of the team did not exceed your expectations. We pride ourselves at being courteous, helpful and knowledgeable and will take this opportunity to speak to the team. Thank you for sharing. Your input is important. We are excited to hear that you will definitely be coming back to Secret Harbour. Excellent! As a returning guest you are eligible to receive a 20% discount. Please call to make your reservation so that we can assure that you get a room with a patio instead of balcony. That distinction is not available when booking on line with Expedia or on our website. Thank you again for your patronage and 5-star review. We look forward to seeing you in the near future and wowing you with our service…and of course our fully furnished condominiums, wonderful beach, swimming, snorkeling, paddle boarding, diving, dining etc.

All us girls were here for a wedding. The room was big enough for us to stay 4 to a room. (that says a whole lot for girls) The staff was really, really nice to us, and the weather was perfect too.
Our room seemed to be a little dated, but it was clean and the room attendant gave us all the extra towels we asked for. (again, that means a lot to girls)
The wedding was just awesome and I can't wait to come back to St Thomas for more than just 3 days!!!!

After doing hours of research and property comparisons Secret Harbour Beach Resort was the obvious choice . The rooms , location , beach , restaurants , bar , available activities and most of all the friendly staff did not disappoint. We chose a beachfront studio and were graciously upgraded o a beachfront one bedroom . Mike and his staff are there with smiles greeting you daily genuinely wanting to know how your stay is going . This perfect location on the islands east end will strongly appeal to those that enjoy a boutique feel and want to avoid the megastructures with small rooms and quarter mile walks to get to the beach . Beach front units are what they advertise . Just a few steps to balmy Caribbean waters . Great water clarity perfect for swimming and snorkeling . Even better Aqua action Dive shop is right on property . Sam and Diane also do a great job to cater and plan water activities to meet your needs , abilities and schedule . We dove with Perry and Morgan who get high marks as not only instructors but for being attentive guides as well . The resort as a whole has a real charm and family feel to it . It's not everywhere you can go and have most everyone you interact with know your name . Can't forget the Sail boat charter available either . THE JESTER offers up great half and full day charters that takes you to other beautiful snorkle and beach locals . Dave and Jana BBQ up a great lunch and cater o your every whim as well . It's a must do . We loved our vacation enough that we are already exploring possible days just a couple months away to make a return trip . Thanks again to all !!!

Room Tip: Although all rooms have fantastic views , it's worth the extra money to treat ourself to beachfr...

This was my 2nd stay at Secret Harbour. The hotel/restaurant/bar have received a facelift since my last visit 2 yrs ago. They did a great job! The resort is well maintained and the food was wonderful. Some of the same staff members were still there and unlike some places on the island, always gracious and helpful. It is the perfect spot for someone looking for a great spot to snorkel/dive (great dive shop with friendly helpful staff), hang out at the beautiful beach, eat some great food and have easy access to the Red Hook ferry and not be subjected to the cruise ship mess. If you want a Ritz Carlton, don't go here but why would you go to the Caribbean anyway? This is a great find with a congenial island feel. As a solo female traveler who loves the Caribbean, I felt safe and was able to completely relax. Thanks!

Our family spent a week in October (just before the start of the busy season) at Secret Harbour Beach resort. I booked a two bedroom, two bath condo right on the beach. We were lucky enough to get a ground floor condo, so we were able to walk onto the beach directly from our patio. All resort staff were unfailingly friendly and helpful. The condos were kept immaculately clean. There was a rinse station on our patio to remove any last vestiges of sand before entering the condo, which was a very nice touch. The condo had a full kitchen and living area, and the patio was also equipped with a full table and two lounge chairs in a shaded area. We had several anoles keeping us company on the stone wall that surrounded the patio. The resort has two restaurants and a water sport center where SCUBA lessons and diving are provided, as well as equipment rental for snorkeling, paddle boarding, kayaking, and several other activities. We spent three days of our stay just relaxing on the beach and swimming. Two of those days were amazingly quiet, and the family agreed that we had fallen into our own private paradise. One day, however, the resort was invaded by a wedding party and a group from a cruise ship. This is not typical in the slow season, but provided us with a noisy taste of what the busy season (late October through spring) must be like. There is a taxi driver named Stanley who can often be found parked in front of the office. He is one of the better drivers we met, so take advantage of his services if he’s available.
