We choose this property because it was a Relais & Chateaux hotel. We were not disappointed. The property is totaly in a green area, with a golf next door. Very quiet area and a lot of space to have a walk around.
The food at the restaurant is absolutely superb. Great food with excellent service. Defintely worth its Michelin star.
The room was large and very well furbished.
The breakfast was served at the table, so not a buffet breakfast. But everyting was available. Too much.
Overall a very nice stay.

There are two properties, the Gaichel guest house and La Gaichel, a Relais and Chateax property. They are next door and operated by the same people. We wanted La Gaichel but it was booked for a wedding. The guest house was an excellent and economical substitute. The rooms were large, well-equipped and modern. The restaurant was more than adequate. Breakfast was included. The location of the two is a quiet calley, walking distance to the border, and next to a park and gold course. For a quiet interlude the setting was perfect.

Considering that I value this hotel a beautiful and rewarding experience, I will immediately say that I did not like the bathroom. Next to a very intimate, well appointed and warm bedroom stood a bathroom (in my case, at least) ultramodern, with marble all over (very slippery), a double bathtub and shower. The contrast with the room is shocking, especially due to the very strong lighting which cannot be lowered or reduced. A pity. The style of the property should have suggested a different furnishing and especially a softer lighting for the bathroom. This said, the rest of this intimate property is an abolute delight and the restaurant (one star Guide Michelin) of excellent standing. The roasted duck à l'orange that we tasted stands among the best I ever had. The service is overall professional and the price is proportional to the quality of the house.

We went for a weekend to Luxembourg and stayed at La Gaichel because we usually like the Relais et Chateaux hotels. The hotel is a solid 15-20 minute drive from the city - you can walk to the Belgian border from the hotel. The hotel is very pleasant, in a park-like setting with lots of flowers and trees. It is near the Route of the 7 Chateaux, which is a fun day trip. The owners are planning to remodel the hotel, and it is due for a facelift. While it is clean and the quality is there, the rooms feel dated. And we could hear our neighbor snoring all night long. Our bed had a big split in the middle and the foam mattresses were a bit soft - my wife and I both woke up with sore backs. The breakfast was great and the staff was very friendly. We ate in the city at a super restaurant - La Fougasse (1 rue de la Boucherie, Tel : 26 27 07 26). Very highly recommended. Reminded us of some of our favorite San Francisco, CA, restaurants - innovative, casual, fresh, and delicious. We had a very pleasant weekend.

I went to this place because I wanted to spend a weekend in a calm surrounding in the woods.La Gaichel is an old farm turned into a fancy place. I was welcom by the owners in a hotel that belongs to the family for more than 150 years. There are only 13 rooms, with both old wood furniture and the modern commodities (bath, shower, bidet, TV, telephone)...La Gaichel is located in a huge park with river (the Eisch). It has a private golf. The park is in a valley at the border between Belgium (Arlon) and Luxembourg (Eischen). As I don't play golf, I enjoyed hiking in the woods of the "Vallée des 3 Moulins", the small villages of Guirsh and Heckbous. In the evening I enjoyed dinking a glass of a typical white alcohol such as "Quetsch" or "Mirabelle" in the large living room.I ate French and Letzebuergesh foods served in a French way by styled Maîtres d'Hotel supervised by the owners. I drank Letzeburgesh wines nicely selected.
