“Beautiful Resort”
Reviewed December 28, 2011

My family( wife and kids aged 11 and 15) wanted to check out Puerto Princessa and the "Underground River" and researched hotels accordingly. We wanted to be close to the underground river as we were warned about having to travel hours if not conveniently located. This hotel is one of the newest hotels and was recommended by a friend as it is in walking distance of the pier where the boats launch to get to the mouth of the underground cavern/river. After reading the good reviews from TripAdvisor it was a not difficult to decide. The Sheridan is a hotel/Resort/spa. It is new and modern and all rooms have cable TV, in room WiFi internet, safety box, fridge, Comfortable beds with down blankets and pillows. Each room has its own patio/veranda depending if your on first or second floor. It has the biggest swimming pool of any of the hotels and is located on the beach. The hotel staff aim to please and are very accommodating. The hotel restaurant is pretty good and I had no complaints in respect to service and the menu. The beach is nice an the waves this time of year are quite big. Be careful as there is a strong undertow but lifeguards are very careful in monitoring there guests constantly. The hotel is child friendly as my kids loved both the pool and swimming in the sea. Other activities include all terrain vehicle tours, hiking tours, zip line adventures and more. The Spa is quite relaxing. I would easily recommend this to all friends looking for a relaxing and comfortable vacation.

My only complaint is the limited schedule of pick ups and drop offs to the airport with the hotel van which is included in the paid hotel package. The guest must avail of a limited number of shuttles and follow the hotel schedule. As we did not want to leave the hotel at 6:30 for a 1:30 flight we had to arrange for a private hotel van to bring us to the airport. In my opinion it was well worth the extra 60 dollars as we spent an additional 4 hours at the hotel but the hotel should be more accommodating to the guest schedule.

Sheridan is a gorgeous resort - the pool is amongst the most beautiful hotel pools I've ever seen (with a swim-up bar!). We stayed at two resorts on the same beach and also can't say enough bout the beach - the sand, water and proximity to the Underground River and other delights like the local Mangroves - were fantastic.

We were also delighted that the ride to the airport following our stay was free of charge while we paid $70 USD for a ride from the airport by neighboring Daluyon Resort. That said, this was a nice send-off treat - but we'd had a handful of poor experiences dealing with finances to already have had a negative perception of their policies.

For instance, we forced to return to Manila a day earlier than planned to deal with a family matter. When we inquired about shortening our stay, the clerk politely asked "may I ask the reason?" We stated that it was a family emergency and she then notified us that our booking was non-refundable. I can accept such policies (although, concessions would have been nice being that we were staying for 3 nights), but then I wouldn't have asked for a reason to simply reject it. While we were booking travel changes through our prior hotel, which was located about a 5-10 minute walk away, the Sheridan tried to charge us 20 pesos per minute to call them from a cell phone! They also charged to use their in-house computer which we tried to use because their wifi was so painfully slow for our iPad.

Mostly minor details (and, yes, the cancellation policy is a policy - I respect that), but each left a bad taste in our mouths.

The breakfast arrangement was good, although there were issues with flies (some food is covered, but not all - and the flies swarm to those that are exposed). Filipino food was good, but many of the foreign dishes needed a lot of work - some, such as the short ribs (which was recommended by the waiter) was almost inedible.

But, overall, not a bad experience. We were told by a staffer that the resort has 74 rooms and they've never been booked to capacity. I find this to be unfortunate because we really enjoyed this area of Palawan, but the 2-hour drive from the airport is a daunting challenge to overcome. That said, I'd say the solution is to attract more customers - not attempt to extract more money from the ones they have. A suggestion would be to revisit some of their pricing decisions: One suggestion - give me free local phone calls and computer access, but charge me $20 USD for the airport ride! I'd feel less gouged that way, and you'd make more money!)

We stayed here a few days ago for a short family vacation. Everything was nice. Rooms, facilities, pool, beach. Food's nothing spectacular, we actually had our best meal somewhere else nearby. Overall we enjoyed our stay, however, the hotel only provides two free shuttle going to the airport, one at 6:30am and one at 12:00pm. Our flight was at 2pm so putting us on the 12pm shuttle would be too late as it is an hour and a half ride to the airport. So the front desk insisted on getting us on the 6:30am shuttle. Now, i dont know what their thinking, but would you wake up 5:30 am for a 2pm flight? First, they gave us our room late when we arrived now they want us to check out early to be at the airport at 8am for a 2pm flight! But guess what, a shuttle is available at your convenience at a costly price. I mean, arent they suppose to provide their guests transfer to the airport because of their location. So the night before we left, everybody was stressed out with the transportation issue ruining our stay, thanks to the incompetent manager. It took some arguing and high blood pressure beforethe staff decided to give us a ride at a more reasonable time, 10:30am. I would stay here again but ill make sure first there is a hotel-airport transfer available at the right time.

This is most definitely an unforgettable experience for us. The place is amazing. The services are first class. You get picked up from the airport which is about 90 minutes away, in a minivan. Since there were only two of us, the driver took detours and we get to see some tourist spots on the way. There is welcome drink and refreshing towel when you check in. Just like the pictures on their web site, the pool is the biggest I have come across. The water is cooling and so refreshing. You can swim in the pool or in the sea or both. There are pool loungers that are in the water. There is also a bar in the (not quite) middle of the pool. Staff were friendly and helpful. Nothing was too much trouble. Lots of choices for breakfast. They have theme evening dinners on Fri. and Sat. night. There are lots of tables, chairs and sun loungers along their area of the beach. There is also security personnel, so no worries about leaving your stuff while you swim or walk. There is a gym too. I read about the indifferent level of services on TA reviews but what we experienced were nothing short of amazing. If this resort is within your budget, you should check it out.

The Resort is world class, pool is fantastic but the service was unacceptable. the hotel was being run by amateurs who seemed to be unaware of professional hotel management. For the steep price that we paid, the service was definitely below par. Food was also way below acceptable standards. Would rate the dining experience 1 out of 10.

Room Tip: The suite is fantastic !

This resort would have to be the worst customer service I have ever experienced, the room I had was the best in the place and nice but over all service was terrible. The food and Beverage was not up to scratch and the breakfast buffet was covered in ants.
The staff had absolutely no idea and was obvious the hotel did not invest in there staff training .Upon check out it took about 1 hour to work out what my account was and then another 30 minutes to have my bags collected from the room to the car.
Way over priced for what it is and far from good enough to say it is a 4 star hotel
