“Coffee and Football Special”
Reviewed June 9, 2013

After a morning in the saddle and a climb to Banba Crown, it was a pleasant surprise to meet Dominic and his wee van, Caffe Banba. Fresh brewed coffee, a brownie and a view out to sea were just rewards. Like everywhere in Donegal, there was time for the craic and a quick introduction to the cyclists secret weapon; Football Special. This elixir had magical powers, keeping me going until lunchtime. When you're there , ask Dominicf or a wee swallow of the stuff; it's brilliant.

“Refreshingly fabulous!”
Reviewed April 19, 2013

Best coffee this side of Italy, and I'm a fussy mare!
Amazing cakes, my birthday (easter) chocolate cake last year was so memorable the thought still makes my mouth water! Gooey chocolatey rich but not sickly...mmmmmm
Brilliant to have the bonus of gorgeous marshmallowy hot chocolate after a walk up to the head. Hurrah for people who do things right!
(PS. in the bit that asks about outdoor seating below...well, at Malin Head you can sit where you like!...and scenic views...does it get much better? Even at the Cafe in Carn it looks out onto what is a very pretty little town)

SO pleased you enjoyed your cake - sounds like you had our Fancy Schmancy cake which is a real treat. Great to see more fussy coffee drinkers coming into the shop and to Banba's Crown. We are really proud of the quality of our coffee and as the saying goes - life's too short for bad coffee...

“Sensational location!”
Reviewed March 30, 2013

Stumbled across the website for this most unusual cafe while surfing information about Innishowen, prior to our holiday. We took a drive around the Malin peninsula and got to Malin Head to find Caffe Banba as expected. It is a mobile coffee bar based on a small van! We enjoyed the best cappucino and hot chocolate we have ever had. Proprietor Dominic told us that they made the chocolate sauce base for the hot chocolate which was creamy and came topped with mini marshmallows. Traybakes are available, though we did not eat as dinner was being cooked back at the cottage by one of our friends (and enthusiastic foodie who would put some of the Masterchefs to shame!). However. a few days later we bought a Banba apple pie (from the butchers in Malin!) and enjoyed it. It was just as Mum used to make, piled high with apples and the pastry was exactly right, thin and nicely glazed. Price was a bit more than I would normally expect to pay (7 Euro for the large) but we all rated it best yet. Hoping we will have another Banba experience before long..

Really pleased you enjoyed the coffee and hot chocolate at Malin Head - we were beaming with pride when we read it was the best you have ever had (I think the fabulous view helps).
Also glad you loved the apple pie - I am just sorry you paid 7 Euro for it - it should be 5 Euro. Sounds like an error somewhere for which I apologise, and I hope we get chance to make it up to you with some complimentary coffee and hot chocolate if you get back to Malin Head.
