“The reviews don't lie...”
Reviewed September 1, 2013

My wife and I agree that whenever we travel, dine out, go somewhere and do something, guest or customer service has to be the most important thing. Things can always be fixed or made better if at least this key bit of the jigsaw is in place first. Now we have a baby and have just started to venture out once again, being properly looked after is more important than ever.

At The Three Daggers (we've just returned from a one night weekend stay), nothing is too much trouble. Quite the reverse, this is one of the most friendly, helpful and charming places we have ever stayed, certainly in Britain.

The helpful, nothing-is-too-much-trouble attitude of the whole place though is just the icing on a cake made from all the right ingredients if you want a fabulously comfortable, well fed and well-watered traditional B&B retreat in the West Country.

The Three Daggers is truly worth its awards (5 AA Stars etc) and accolades (the reviews are all spot on) but I felt obliged to write and give a particular shout out to its wonderful staff.

From the lady at breakfast service (Jackie I think) who served us a classic, expertly done full English, whilst making sure our friend in the high chair had everything he needed (crayons and a book were already laid out before we arrived!) to the happy chef who nodded his approval (to my approval!) through the windowed kitchen hatch, everyone made you feel 'welcome'.

Chloe, who must be the manager (if she's not, she should be...or at least paid like one!) was superb from the moment we checked in, personally overseeing every aspect of our stay. This, unbelievably, included serving us a 3-course meal - at her insistence - in the lovely B&B communal living area (upstairs!) so we didn't have to drift far from our sleeping baby. It would appear she was also running a busy restaurant and full bar at the time. Thanks so much to her and her team! (ok, a shout out for the food too then; simply done, done brilliantly; a piece of fillet steak for example, superb local beef, cooked by someone who knows technically how to do it to perfection...with the best ever triple cooked chips!)

Anyway, we're not going to give too much more away on here, now that we've found this place, but it comes highly recommended - especially for families - and we cant wait to go back!

We stayed at The Three Daggers on Friday 19th July 2013 in the Priory Room.

Well where do I start, right from emailing The Three Daggers I knew I had made the right choice, their customer service is first class.

We arrived about 5.30pm after an amazing day at Longleat Safari Park. It took us about 25 mins to get to The Three Daggers.

We had a very warm welcoming and felt they already knew us from my emails, when I was booking the room (and table).

Chloe kindly showed us our room and we were amazed just how stunning the B&B section is (well the whole Pub, Restaurant and Inn is stunning). You get your key and fob as the door to the stairs is closed when the pubs dinner service starts (t 6pm) there are only 3 rooms and just these few guests get to use the stunning lounge and kitchen.

You can make yourself a cold or hot drink whenever you like. There are cereals and bread if you want a snack or to have breakfast up there. There is some alcohol and crisps and they just ask you are honest and let them know if you have had any of the chargeable items. There is a lovely big open fire (for Winter) and a huge TV, there are also maps should you wish to go for a walk and also you can use their Hunter Wellies!

The room was very spacious, with a dressing room and a huge bathroom. The shower is amazing! There is toiletries in the bathroom and a hair dryer.

Again there is a IPod docking station and big plasma TV. No expense has been spared and all furnishing, bedding and towels are such high quality (the next day we went to John Lewis and got the same towels !)

As there are only 3 rooms there is nowhere for staff to stay so they advise you around midnight you will hear them set the alarm and they then leave. You have a book of about 4/5 contact numbers should you need anyone in the night. It's such a small quaint village I'm sure they aren't even 2 mins away.

We had our table booked for 7pm. Dinner was really lovely. We had breads and oils for starter, chicken, home grown veg and Dauphinoise potatoes, husband had king prawn and crab linguine. For desert I had sticky toffee pudding :-) as I said all food was amazing and the service great.

Breakfast was served from 8am-10am in the conservatory. They leave a full variety of cereals out with milk. Then we were offered the hot menu of which I had Eggy Bread and Bacon and Hubby had scrambled egg on toast. Again the food was first class and all the bread was freshly made, in fact it was the best eggy bread I've eve had !

Everything about this place is superb and I cannot recommend it enough, can't wait to visit again, hopefully next time for 2/3 nights and explore the area a little more.

A real gem and all the staff should be very proud x

We all would like to thank the Three daggers staff for a really great time at this magnificent small boutique hotel, our stay was short but in no way did this take away the immediate presence of what is happening at the three daggers, The team are extremely friendly and professional from their excellent micro brewery next door serving amazing Real Beer to the immaculate and gorgeous food to the simplistic and extremely artistic style of the hotel & hospitality along with the absolute impressive three daggers layout,
This is what you get.
Free Car parking, Free Wi-Fi, a 50inc LED TV, Dressing gowns, Roll top Bath, a shower you could get a family into , extra kingside beds, you could only dream off, Pillows & Duvets so soft and perfect, perfect staff who care in an extremely professional and tremendously impressive way, !
Whoever the designer was did not cut back on style or quality in any way it is 100% in every way.a perfect picture...
Have never left a 10 in trip advisor and I stay in 40 plus Hotels per year, this Hotel has 3 amazing rooms and a separate lounge area that would fit perfectly within the Dorchester in London..
If there was 11 this place would receive that from me, for me one of the very best places you could wish to stay in the UK
If there was one negative that would be that there is No air conditioning, however there are plenty of windows to get the breeze...and a fan... Thank you Three Daggers

Room Tip: Book well in advance, you will not be disappointed.

We stayed at The Three Daggers for my boyfriend's birthday surprise and we were blown away by the fantastic hotel, superb staff and delicious food. From start to finish, everything with our stay was just perfect. Caitlin showed us to our room on arrival, and she was so welcoming and attentive, and really made us feel at home. She described everything in the room and the shared guest living room excellently, and had a great knowledge of the hotel and the surroundings. We stayed in the Coulston room, which is the master bedroom in the hotel. It was described exactly as on their website. The huge tv and amazingly comfortable bed made it almost impossible for us to venture downstairs for dinner. The views were also amazing, and we managed to get some lovely sunset pictures because the weather was so nice.
The menu in the pub downstairs had lots to choose from, but we both decided to go for a classic bacon and cheese burger! And it was probably the best burger I have ever had. My boyfriend tried the pub's own ale, and was so impressed by it that he bought 5 pints of it to take home!
We both slept peacefully, and even kept the curtains open because there were no annoying street lights to keep us awake at night! The surroundings of the hotel are beautiful, and it seemed a waste to shut them out.
We had a cooked breakfast in the morning, which was included in the price of the room - something that some B and B's can con you on!! The breakfast again was just amazing, it really set us up for our day and Chloe, who served us, was another fantastic member of staff and a credit to the Three Daggers.
Once we'd checked out, we explored the farm shop next door and had a look at the brewery. These were great additions to the hotel stay, and we took a few bits of local produce back with us.
Overall, we really couldn't fault the Three Daggers. Everything from the room to the food to the staff was all so well thought out and they've paid a lot of attention to detail. They have clearly listened to what their customers want and that's something than can be severley lacking in the hotel and restaurant trade these days. Well done to all at The Three Daggers, we will definitely be recommending the place and will come back for another stay in the future!

Room Tip: The Coulston room is the master suite and is huge, comfortable and well equipped. If it's availa...

The Three Daggers at Edington, Wiltshire,is a great place to stay. It is an hotel/restaurant which offers old world atmosphere in a landscape which has many historic associations, not least the site of the Battle of Ethandun, in AD878, between Alfred the Great of Wessex and the so-called Great Heathen Horde led by Guthram the Dane. The Westbury White Horse, inscribed on the Downs is nearby. The staff at The Three Daggers are cheerful and polite, and although we did not eat at the restaurant, having already booked a meal elsewhere in order to explore the area, the menu looked very attractive.
