“family lunch”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed November 22, 2013

I visited the Bothwell Bridge Hotel with my wife in MAY 2013 fpr a family occasion. The service was very poor and the food was the worst we have experienced for a long time.We didn't even have time to get any tea or coffee as we had run out of time, as members of the family had booked a pre arranged taxis.

Staying on business twice in Nibember and looked this hotel up on Expedia. Having booked 4 colleagues in too, I was a little bit cautious given the very reasonable price. Local colleagues reassured me the hotel had a good reputation and they weren't wrong! The rooms show some signs of age but super clean, warm, a decent bed and a you'd shower. What did make a real difference was the staff, they're excellent (particularly the restaurant team who were brilliant at breakfast, dinner and for room service)! Really great team! The food was good too! Simple, wholesome and very reasonably priced! Room service was great quality and speedy, friendly service. Breakfast is great too! On the one occasion I needed to speak to someone about a missing remote control, the manager himself sorted it out and promptly found me one! All in all, I'd thoroughly recommend it and will use The Bothwell Bridge again.

The Bothwell Bridge Hotel played host to our Wedding Reception yesterday and could not have been more perfect! The lead up and planning was seamless thanks to Stephen and his team, the day was perfect beyond belief and all our guests complimented the food, service and surroundings! Wish we could do it all again tomorrow and without a doubt would pick the Bothwell Bridge everytime! Thank you to Stephen and his team for exceeding our expectations would highly recommend the venue! The hotel hosted our wedding on 3 November 2013. We used two function rooms on the day (Renaissance Room and La Sala Classica) and both looked beautiful on the day. The food was also fantastic. Many of our family stayed over at the hotel and the rooms were adequate for the hotel star rating. The staff were excellent and helpful at all times and all costs were very reasonable.

Had our wedding here and have to say, overall it was fantastic.
The atmosphere created was classy and cozy, even for a room which held 300 everyone felt close and had an amazing day.
The food was up there with the best we have tasted, Ben the chef is amazing and a gentleman.
The night overall was fantastic, and we would fully reccomend the place to anyone booking a wedding there.

There was a couple of things we would advise against, the honeymoon suite isn't really worth paying the upgrade for.
Also its really hard to get a final price. We paid our wedding off early, and had overpaid and were forced to spend an extra £300+ behind the bar as they wouldn't refund OUR money???

Apart from that it was excellent

I have stayed at this hotel many times over the years, so I do go back. Hotel is a bit dated, old fashioned (keys for doors), but rooms are comfortable and equipped OK. My room last night faced a wall nice :( but it was fine. The biggest issue I have is sound proofing. I awoke to someone snoring in the room above at 3am and then all the floorboards squeaking and creaking at 7am when people were walking past my room. Walls and doors are wafer thin and unless you requestn a back room out of the way, you will either get woken by fellow guests or the church bell chiming! Nice bar with good drinks, breakfast excellent buffet style. Didn't eat in restaurant.

You can walk out to some bars and restaurants which are quite near.

A good hotel but not much more than that to be honest, it's dated.

Room Tip: Ask for a quite floor out of the way.

I have stayed in this hotel numerous times now due to business and when-ever I am due in this area I try to get this hotel booked. The staff are polite/friendly and very professional. The rooms are awesome and comfortable. Breakfast is excellent with plenty of choices. Never had a bad experience whilst staying at this establishment.
NOTE - I have never dinned at the hotel as in an evening meal as my expenses would not cover the bill. Just my opinion but the menu does seem rather pricey.

Room Tip: Never had a bad room.
