“Quaint cafe with a 1940's feel. Fabulous food, service, sea views and dog friendly. Great find!”

Loved this little cafe. The ladies serving were charming and the atmosphere relaxed and Oldy-worldy. Food was good. We had traditional steak plastids which came with a lovely garnish and a great dressing on it. Ice cream was lovely too. Really liked the fact that well behaved dogs ( even sandy ones) were allowed in and it made for a great finish to a lovely day out dog walking.
It was out of season so probably quieter than usual but we loved the 1940's feel with the retro signs and adverts on the walls. Would definitely go again. Was confused as to what it was called. Looked on her to rate The Beachcombers Cafe but after much searching found that it's listed as Bovisands Cafe. Either way - it's lovely!

We discovered this place when we stayed at the Coastguard cottages by Fort Bovisand.

THE GOOD A busy beach cafe above Bovisand beach with great views across Plymouth Sound. The service is quick and friendly. Nice food with quite a varied menu and reasonable sized portions. We watched the seals playing in the surf

THE BAD It gets busy in the summer and it can be hard to get a table.

THE UGLY Nothing

THE VERDICT A busy beach cafe with good food and good views. Definitely worth a visit but busy in the summer.

Amazing view out across the Plymouth Breakwater and beyond. Cafe has been under new owners since the summer 2012 and they have really improved the decor, the coffee, food and service. Menu choices are fairly limited but the quality is excellent with meat sourced from local farm. Staff always friendly and atmosphere relaxing. Difficult find a better place than this for lunch, or just a coffee, and if the weather improves a lovely beach just down the cliff outside! Intend to be a frequent visitor!
