“Ultra comfortable, friendly and effective”
Reviewed June 16, 2013

Our 3 Gili Tour guide told us that Quinci Villas was the de facto No. 1 best beach resort in the Sengigi area for the past few years. That was until Jeeva Klui came along. With its ultra comfortable rooms, friendly and effective service, Jeeva Klui can certainly give Quinci Villas more than a run for its money.

We booked Jeeva Klui's Ocean Front rooms for 3 nights via booking.com. However, after checking with the reservation team via email, it turned out that our booking was only available for 2 nights. To repair the mistake, the Jeeva Klui team gave us a free upgrade to their Amra Pool Villa (their best suite). Kudos to the team for their exceeding generosity. I then enquired (also via email) about arranging airport transfers, local day tours in Lombok and day tours to the 3 Gili Islands. Their reply was comprehensive and very prompt. In the end, I had no hesitation booking a 3 Gili Island day tour for 2 people for RP700,000 from them. Very value for money in my opinion.

Pickup at the airport was by an ultra friendly staff. The 1.5 hour drive was quite long to say the least, but time passed quickly with the orange juice provided and friendly chat with the staff. We arrived at the airport tired and famished. Dinner at the restaurant was great. The service was very attentive, and the food (Ayam Taliwang and Stirfried Sotong) was more than good. The Amra Pool Villa was huge and welcoming (see other review by Yashari about the interior).

Breakfast the next day was comprehensive and very nice. In particular, their omlettes, pancakes, waffles and french toast suited our taste buds perfectly (although it may not be to everyone's liking). Our 3 Gili Tour by our tour guide Hasan was very well arranged. He was very knowledgeable about the entire Lombok, and about the rapid developments of all the resorts on the main island itself as well as the 3 Gilis. He also took care of our safety well during the snorkelling, and brought us to great places to see the coals and fishes at Gili Meno and Gili Air.

The excellent service of the reception was awesome over the rest of the 2 days. Whenever we needed to request a reservation and pickup from a restaurant in Sengigi, or a taxi to somewhere else, it was always well arranged. Whenever we left the villa for dinner, we would always return to find it cleaned and the bed well decorated with flowers all over. More kudos to the housekeeping team.

In the end, there is little to complain about Jeeva Klui. We are more than happy to recommend anyone to come here.

Final note: There is healthy competition between Jeeva Klui and Quinci Villas. One evening, we found ourselves drinking cocktails at the pool side bar at Quinci Villas. After we were done, we requested for a taxi from the reception to bring us back to Jeeva Klui. To our surprise, the staff at the Quinci Villas reception offered to drive us there because the distance was so short! We were half floored by this gesture for them to drive non-guests back to their competitor's resort.

Room Tip: The Amra Pool Villa is very good value for money for 4 people.

A quiet resort by the sea in the mangsit area. Stayed at the Sea facing room. Fairly large. Quiet and wonderful atmosphere. Thr pool was fun for the kids and close proximity to the beach was a real plus. Excellent stay.

We arrived to Jeeva Klui at the end of May 2013. We booked the ananda segarra beachfront deluxe villa. However, there was a glitch in the system and we were told that the room was actually not available. Long story short, we got ourselves instead the amra villa duplex.

The room (or villa) has a pool inside. The pool was not that big and very suitable for kids. The interior was very cozy with sofa in the first floor actually made out of two single beds. The first floor also include big wide screens flat TV and an outdoor shower. The rooms was pleasant with possible family BBQ in the poolside.

In the second floor, there was the master bedroom with cozy balcony suitable for playing cards or just chilling out with friends or family. The master bedroom also has another big flat TV.

This hotel is very suitable for relaxation. Enjoy your breakfast in the deck overlooking gunung agung. The afternoon tea was also very enjoyable while enjoying the sea breeze. In the evening you can enjoy the dinner or just relaxing in spa.

We met the Chef, Jayadi, during the dinner and he was very friendly and welcoming. Try his tasmanian salad for dinner. Very tasty salmon was used in the salad making the dish very enjoyable for me. Also try the tuna grill.

Overall, I would recommend the place for those who would like for a tranquil stay and rest all day and have activities inside the hotel.

We just got back from a 4-night stay at Jeeva Klui in two Akasha pool villas & we have to admit that this tiny resort had exceeded our expectations in terms of overall service, setting & ambiance. Although the resort is not exactly a family destination - there are no activities for kids other than the pool & the beach - the kids had the time of their lives regardless, much to the chagrin of other childless guests we imagine. The resort has a certain je ne sais quoi, it wasn't the most luxurious or the most stunning, but somehow everything was the right mix at the right dosage - which makes the resort special & their efforts very genuine. The staff from the from the front desk to the restaurant to housekeeping to the gardeners were always pleasant, polite & personable, but most importantly always kind & sweet to all children.

Although our villa was situated right behind the restaurant - we were quite quite disturbed by this initially - we could tell that the staff really made an effort to keep the noise levels down so that never bothered us. The pool villa was very private, cleanliness was a top priority (occasional ants & mossies but that's to be expected from its rustic location), towels renewed & villas made up by noon & turn down service (& mossie spray) every evening, all done very discreetly & out of guests' way. The thatched roof villas are well designed & spacious even for a small family, the bed & ambiance was super cozy & a wood crib was provided for our young son. We all slept very well throughout. The resort however is VERY dimly lit but Lombok is generally poorly lit so it took a bit of getting used to. There are certain workmanship flaws here & there, eg the hand shower is placed way too low & is not adjustable, the wall lamp is not centered, but these in our opinion added character & charm to this little piece of paradise.

The resort grounds are immaculately maintained, the lawns & landscaping are gorgeous & the beach is clean. Tides were too high for the kids to play much by the beach but the view was spectacular & mystical with the sun setting next to Mount Agung in the distance. The infinity pool is small & there is only one restaurant with complimentary tea time snacks & refreshments every evening, a nice touch, but for fussy foodies like us the food was below par, the a la carte breakfast buffet is not as imaginative as we'd like. Same goes for the lunch & dinner menus, though it fared a lot better than the food we'd had outside the hotel which were of horrific quality, bland & expensive (Taman, Yessy, Alberto's - the worst of the lot). The only time we had a decent meal was nasi padang in Mataram. After 5 days we decided that food in Lombok is pretty much hopeless. And they also move at the speed of snail, food generally takes at least 30-45 minutes to be served on the island.

The spa is a basic setup, with happy hours (50% off) from 10am-12pm. We had facials, foot reflexology, massage & scrub. While the massage & scrub were satisfactory, they made an error with our booking and we ended up with only half hour of reflexology, which felt more like 15 minutes while we had our facial masques on. WiFi is free & of okay speed but spotty at times & there is at the library with a Mac for guest use.

The resort's location may feel a bit isolated, what with the windy roads & ridiculous distance of 1.5 hours from the airport but once there they make you feel right at home. The closest 'town' is Seginggi, which isn't much at all, just a cluster of really bad restaurants & small convenience stores. Nothing much to do around the island other than island hopping & relaxing. Going with that in mind, you will have a quite a fabulous vacation.

Given the chance, we would definitely return to Lombok for Jeeva Klui itself. Highly recommended.

Room Tip: Try to get a room furthest away from the main road and closer to the spa for the best views.

This is a well designed resort with staff. Wonderful room facing the ocean with enclosed outdoor shower. Delicious food, good selection of Indonesian and Western cuisine.

Staff is warm and courteous, engaging yet ensures your privacy. It can be a good place for 1st time visitors to Lombok close to Sengigi but feels away from the bustle of the main beach.

Jeeva Klui is a mid-priced, simple beach hotel with no delusions of grandeur.

First the plaudits. The staff: brilliant with our little grandson, wonderful with his family. Gentle lovely people. Conservation: we loved the fact that the hotel rescues turtle eggs, nurturing them to the point where the baby turtles can be released to the open seas, thus educating staff - AND guests - and maybe saving a few of these rare, lovely creatures for the future. Breakfasts: pretty darn good, if not fancy. Afternoon tea: brilliant when you've got a little one who likes to eat not very much but frequently, and messily.

The big criticism. We had booked deluxe accommodation, the 'signature' Ananda Segarra Deluxe Ocean Front Villa, but the villa we were offered was right next to the restaurant, with an overlooked terrace and bedroom, no view, and a garden used as a short-cut by other guests. We were told all other rooms were booked, but in fact an alternative was found within the hour when we threatened to check out. We heard that no guest stays in that room for long, so may we suggest the management converts this horrible little bungalow into something else? A shop? A laundry room? A dive centre? A store room?

A smaller criticism: sun-lounger bagging. God, how I hate it when guests 'claim' a sun bed then waltz off for half a day. Hotels can stop this practice easily, by asking guests not to do so, and removing towels after a sensible period from unused beds.

Our arrival was spoiled by being offered the Sin Bin, a feeling of disappointment which has lingered longer than the pleasure of the rest of our stay, so I'd say, management, that it's a pretty bad move to offer anyone accommodation that you know will create a bad impression.

If it ain't good enough, just don't serve it.

Room Tip: Be very very specific about NOT staying in the restaurant room.

Thank you for your review and input on your villa. The villa you almost stayed in, next to the restaurant, looks out over the pool area with a view of the ocean beyond. The villa is separated from the restaurant by a 7 meter wide jasmine garden. The 20 meter wide area in front of the villa between the room terrace and the pool is planted with red sea grass. The view from this room and terrace is of the pool and ocean, and, due to the sea grass planting, it is not possible to walk in front of the room as a short cut to anywhere.

As an aside, this is the only ocean front villa at Jeeva Klui that overlooks the pool and is the least expensive of the ocean front villas. Jeeva Klui is unique in Sengiggi, and most resorts in Lombok, in that, with this exception, all the ocean front rooms have direct and open views of the beach and the ocean. Further, every room at Jeeva Klui (excluding the 5 individual pool villas) have partial ocean views. Again, Jeeva Klui is unique amongst the hotels in the Sengiggi area in that more than half the rooms have direct open ocean views and the rest of the villas have partial ocean views.

Staff at Jeeva Klui makes every effort to make sure our guests enjoy their stay with us. We would have been happy to assist you to find other accomodation in Lombok if you were unhappy with Jeeva Klui. I am pleased to hear that we were able to accomodate your request to move rooms but this simply reflects the fact that we do our upmost to make sure our guests are happy.

Once again, thank you for your review. We hope to see you, if not in Jeeva Klui, in Lombok again!

This resort is chic. The location is great, right on the beach (albeit, not a beach to die for, but that's what you get around here), lovely setting with a huge amount of detail in its layout and landscaping.

The infinity pool is great and a perfect place to relax.

I also stayed in one of the rooms near the road, and yes, you can hear some traffic noise but let's be honest, with the pool water jets switched on during the day you can't hear much and the windows are mostly double glazed and with the air con on, it did not bother us.

The room is lovely and big and very well equipped.

Above all, the food hear is amazing. Including all the places we have eaten in so far, it's the beat!

A very, very nice place to stay. Cannot fault it.
