In august 2011 we went for 5 nights to Jeeva Klui and we had there a wonderful time.
We had a suite with seaview just beside the restaurant and swimmingpool. The suite was very comfortable in a beautiful style. A nice big bed (we are 1,92 tall) and a bathroom (shower) outsight. The staff, especially from the restaurant, was very nice, friendly and helpfull. If we visit Lombok in the future, we certainly will return to Jeeva.

We stayed at Jeeva for five nights as a couple with a young 2yr old son, completely satisfied with our choice of hotel. The reviews say it all. The pick up service from the airport was efficient, the architecture was modern but in keeping with an Indonesian style, the outdoor shower was amazing, views from the terrace too, there aren't too many guests for it to feel crowded, free wifi, the service was warm and friendly, the infinity pool delightful...all in all, very nice.

What stopped it from getting five stars = thought the food was average at best, not much choice and not tasty or refined for 5stars (and I love Asian food). The beach is largely man made and the sea isn't that great for paddling, and was a bit choppy. Nothing major to be honest, and you won't be disappointed.

Also, unlike previous reviewer, we think it'd be a bad idea to ban families with young children. Our 2yr old is well behaved and who wants to only go to hotels with other couples?

Enjoy.

Staying at Jeeva Klui is certainly among the very best experiences we've ever had. The grounds are beautiful as are the rooms. We had a pool villa, where the outdoor shower and bath are bigger than most hotel rooms. The outdoor part of the villa is maybe three times the size of the indoor space. It is very much like renting a small house. The view from the restaurant is especially stunning - looking out over the infinity pool to the ocean below. Breakfasts are included but served a la carte, which is nice and unique. The food is great.

The most impressive aspect of the hotel, however, is the sense it gives you of being by yourself. At the beach, on the grounds, it seems rare to see other people. Another way to say that is the property is large for the number of guests, and it was full when we were there.

Visitors should know what they are getting, of course. This is not a place with a million things to do. It is not within walking distance of anything else. The pool is lovely, the beach is certainly big enough although not great for swimming - most of it is rocky in the water. You are at a beautiful resort with whoever you came with, and the views are the thing. Especially impressive are the sunsets when Bali's volcano is in silhouette.

Small things: Construction should be done in about a month, looking at where they are now. It is a little annoying depending on how close your room is. It would be good to have some things simply written out for guests, such as what sort of transportation is available (it is possible to rent motorbikes, cars with drivers for the day, the hotel car per hour, e.g., but this isn't obvious). The language ability of the staff varies a lot, but there is always someone who can explain things.

My wife and I have just returned from a 2 week stay at the Jeeva Klui.
The resort is absolutely stunning and spotlessly maintained.
The food in the restaurant was excellent and very well presented.
All the staff couldn't do enough to help.
I can't remember all the names, but a special mention goes to Ayu, Beital and Dedi in the restaurant, and also to Syamsul in Housekeeping.
We will definitely be returning.

We spent 5 nights here for the latter part of our honeymoon.
The view from the restaurant over looking the infinity pool and ocean is truly lovely and the little dens and beds which are dotted about are a lovely extra touch. The spa set in the cliff over looking the beach is a wonderful experience.
The room we had was a pool villa. The room itself is big with a comfy bed, lovely bathroom and loved the outdoor shower. Great TV and DVD player but an Ipod docking station would be a really great addition. The outside area was lovely, really spacious and got the sun most of the day. The pool was a lovely size but the staff never came to clean it so I was a little concearned about this.
The food at the restaurant was lovely but there is a down side to the restaurant which after the 5th, 6th, 7th time became very annoying! The staff continually got the wrong order of food. The daily specials which although lovely when avaialble were ofetn not available yet they wouldnt tell you you could no longer have it until after you had eaten your starter..a bit dissapointing especially to be told so late.
Another down side was that we were there for 5 days yet we had to call reception 3 times asking for the room to be clean and for new towels and bottled water. cleanliness of the rooms didnt seem to be paramount here.
The staff were friendly but as there were so many of them in the restaurant it felt like that may have been the reason the orders were being taken wrong. If you like constant conversations with staff and continual help then you will love the service but I personally like to be left alone a little when on holiday but thats just a personal thing.

In terms of Lombok we went to Gilli Air Island which is smaller and less crowded but just as beautiful.. I would recommend this to stay away form too many tourists. We went to a restaurant in Sengiggi called Square which was nice..there isnt much choice so we stayed in the hotel most nights.

Thank you for your review and your kind comments on the look and feel of Jeeva Klui. We would also like to congratulate you on your wedding. Best wishes and happiness to you both! We are pleased that you chose Jeeva Klui for your honeymoon. We have spoken with staff in housekeeping and in the restaurant about your comments and we will address the issues you raised. We have set high service standards for ourselves and apologize that our service standards were not met while you were at Jeeva Klui. We will work to make sure that those standards are achieved and maintained in the future. We also appreciate your comment on the ipod docking station. We plan to install ipod docking units in our new villas and will most likely add them in the pool villas as well. We hope you enjoyed your stay in Lombok and, once again, we apologize for any shortcomings you experienced at Jeeva Klui.

My husband & I were staying there 3 nights and was sad to leave. To us the hotel was unexpectedly good. The dining area is in front of the pool and beach, it's beautiful. Though the hotel was fully booked, but we didn't feel over-crowded. Plenty of space on the beach & pool area.
The beach is not perfect (e.g. white sandy beach and long shore), but hey, it's Semanggi beach not Kuta's. However, the water was clear and we could swim there, before jumping into the pool which is just there. The hotel-beach has an advantage as we could see a beautiful sunset while enjoying our happy hour cocktail.

The only things that could be improved is .. the restaurant area. We ordered cocktails before the dinner .. however, our food came too fast. It was awkward, as 'cocktail' vs. 'nasi goreng' didn't really match :-). I guess they need to pay a bit of attention for this. It was not a big deal (after all we were on vacations).

But overall, we were really happy with our staying!

Room Tip: Make sure when the room is "ocean view" you really get the ones in front of the beach. The...

Thank you for your review and your comments on Jeeva Klui. We agree that the sunsets are fantastic from the beach at Jeeva Klui...especially on clear evenings when you can see the full outline of the volcanoes of Bali. We are pleased that you also enjoyed the sunsets! In addition to your kind comments on the resort we also appreciate your input on the restaurant. We will incorporate your comments in our restaurant staff training to improve waiting staff service levels. No one should have to choose between a cocktail and nasi goreng! Once again, thank you for your review and kind comments. We hope to see you again at Jeeva Klui.

We went to Quincy last year which was excellent. This year we decided on Jeeva for no other reason than it was cheaper for a beach front room. And as we did for QV we travelled half across the world in search of peace and quiet at a resonable price

Day 1 did not get off to a great start as there was an off shore breeze which highlighted the construction going on at the back of the property. We were assured that construction would be completed by early August. Clearly this was not the case. The noise of hammering, banging, cutting etc. carried on intermittently throughout our stay and contrary to what other reviewers have said it was intrusive.

PROS
1 JV is very pretty with imaculate gardens, great local architecture and right on the sea
2 The rooms are large, very comfortable with lots of storage areas. The beds are wonderfully comfortable as are the pillows. The bathroom with outdoor shower was perfect. The outdoor seating/living area just right
3 Breakfast was the best I've had - an excellent selection with very tasty coffee. Dinner was also pretty good with a good selection and complimentary amuse bouche. The pastries at breakfast and dinner are to die for. Complimentary afternoon teas was also very welcome
4 The pool area is good and the pool kept clean along with a wonderful view over the beach and sea.
5 The collection from the airport was trouble free and very welcome
6 The reservation staff were always very helpful and the process was trouble free
7 The staff were simply the best I've come across. Efficient, well manered, polite, friendly and keen to help in any way possible
8 There is some good snorkeling to be had about 100m off shore and the hotel kindly provide free equipment
8 Sengigi is just down the road - 10 mins by taxi

CONS
1 The consruction noise
2 Warm as opposed to hot food. Not all the time but enough times to be disappointed. This seems to be a SE Asia thing as other places including Quincy also served up warm food - hot plates from the kitchen do not seem to be top of mind
3 The prices on their menus do not include tax & service - same at Quincy. It does state at the bottom of each page 'tax not included' but one then has to calculate how much the extra 21% comes to. Why on earth can't they incude the tax in the price as opposed to trying to hide it?
4 The price of wine is insane but again this is not just a JV thing - wine prices across SE Asia are very high. They offered a Two Oceans Sauvignon Blanc which I can buy at my local supermarket in Cape Town for US$4.50. If my memory serves me correctly the price at JV was US$40
5 The dining area is open on three sides. When there is a stiff breeze, which threre was on many nights, the wind whistles through. Quincy has two sides open which is just right. JV might like to think about sliding glass panels on one side. On the nights with no wind it was very pleasant.
6 The beach is definitely not of the carribean variety but fine for a stroll
7 This is obviously not JV's fault but the areas surrounding Sengigi look as though the rubbish collectors have been on strike for 10 years - piles of litter all over the place. I think the hotels should get together and make an issue of this.
8 Lastly, but most importantly for us, was the noise generated by a bunch of families with young children who arrived half way through our stay during the last week of August. The kids hit the pool at 8.30 am and stayed on and off for most of the day. Screams of 'Mummy.Mummy' and 'Daddy.Daddy' with the odd tantrum thrown in might have been water off the proverbial ducks back for their parents but for those of us who were after R&R having travelled a long way and paid a not inconsiderable sum it was exremely irritating not to say annoying. One can't really blame the kids as it is the parents who indulge their precious little ones. Nevertheless the end result was negative - not only for us but for the many other couples. And it is for this reason I would hesitate to recommend JV. I understand the owners wish to enhance their return on iverstment but they must decide who is their primary target market. Maybe there should be a minimum age of 12 years?

Having said all the above JV was a great place to have visited. I'd like to go back preferably before the new airport opens with the attendant increase in prices.

Thank you for your kind comments on Jeeva Klui, especially the items mentioned on the "pros" list! We are pleased that you enjoyed the rooms, the design, the views, and not to forget, the pastries at Jeeva Klui! We would also like to apologize for the construction. We are behind schedule on building as we have encountered unexpected delays. The spa was completed in late July while the first four suites of the expansion project were completed in August. We expect the final four two story one bedroom sea view villas with private pools, designed to accommodate a group or couples traveling together or simply for guests who prefer a larger private space, to be completed by mid October. This is the final phase of the expansion project.

We have taken under advice your comment on plate warmers and are pleased to inform you that we are in the process of ordering a plate warmer to be installed in the kitchen. We are also now ordering blinds to be installed in the restaurant to reduce the breeze on windy nights. We appreciate your input on this and hope to have these items in place by late October.

On other points, tax and service charges are required in Indonesia and are generally listed separately. This is not meant to hide the tax and service charge but is common practice in Indonesia to avoid possible confusion in calculating government service taxes, which are paid monthly, and service charges which are distributed to staff.

Wine is expensive in Indonesia as it is subject to multiple import and distribution taxes. There is a local Bali wine that is less expensive that we also offer in the restaurant. Hopefully, and if tax and import restrictions are revised, we will be able to carry more South African wines and at a lower cost in the future. We are particularly interested in South African wines as we have a holding in a rental 'cottage' in Cape Town. The cottage in Cape Town is now undergoing a total renovation and will be opened in early December 2011. We will be setting up a website link between Jeeva Klui and the cottage in Cape Town shortly.

Finally, we apologize that other guests disturbed your stay while you were at Jeeva Klui. The majority of our guests at Jeeva Klui are couples. As far as we know, the only resort in Lombok that limits children is Puri Mas.

Once again, thank you for your comments and your valuable input. We hope to see you again at Jeeva Klui!
