Stopped off here as it is close to the M5 and had read the reviews on Tripadvisor. When we arrived there were several tables occupied in the lounge (mainly used as a restaurant it seems) and the atmosphere was really good. There were a few real ales on offer so we chose Ghost Ship which we hadn't seen in a pub in along while. Good choice. We were pretty ravenous so ordered starters and mains. This was a mistake on our part as the portion sizes were very generous. Blanchbait and garlic mushrooms were spot on and at £4.95 each good value. Could quite easily have been a main meal! Then followed in quick succession (maybe just a bit too quick?) were the mains - liver and chicken curry. Both of the mains were £8.50. Same generous portions with the liver being described as 'marvelous. The only constructive comment we can make is that the chicken curry, although well cooked, was more of a casserole than a curry. A little on the sweet side for my taste and needed more spice and sauce. There are specials on the chalk board which seemed to be available in small or main size portions - we thought this was a great idea as we are now well educated in the portion size department! Oh, and check out the water pump in the ladies loo....(gents, believe me it's unusual).
Great find, will defo be back.

Everything about the place is excellent: food, service, ambience. We were staying at the Holiday Inn Express close by and went as a result of Tripadvisor reviews

Went here on the way home from Crealy adventure park. There is free parking nearby if you time it right between 6pm and 8am. Also was lucky as there was a table for 4 free as it does get booked up quickly. There is no children's menu but they can have the meals in the lighter bites part of the menu. We had to wait a bit longer for our meals but the wait is well worth it. The food was excellent we had the Somerset chicken with garlic mash and it was lovely. The Eton mess was not too sickly sweet. The table next too us enquired about the curry was told that it is medium but if they wanted it hotter the chef would be able to do this which indicates that the food is cooked to order and that is why you have to wait. It is near Exeter services and is far better value for money than the food served in the service station and reasonably priced. My advice do not eat at the services and eat at the Half Moon instead but book first to avoid disappointment.

Used to work nearby several years ago and came here regularly for lunch. Decided to revisit after seeing such good reviews on here.
Tonight I had one of the best meals I have ever had in a pub, and at a very reasonable price.
The service was excellent - very friendly and efficient. We were lucky to get the last available table at 6pm which just shows how popular it is here.
Will definitely return in the very near future.

Good meal, with friendly service and nice pub atmosphere. Not too fancy, but solid grub and good value for money.
