Stopped off here as it is close to the M5 and had read the reviews on Tripadvisor. When we arrived there were several tables occupied in the lounge (mainly used as a restaurant it seems) and the atmosphere was really good. There were a few real ales on offer so we chose Ghost Ship which we hadn't seen in a pub in along while. Good choice. We were pretty ravenous so ordered starters and mains. This was a mistake on our part as the portion sizes were very generous. Blanchbait and garlic mushrooms were spot on and at £4.95 each good value. Could quite easily have been a main meal! Then followed in quick succession (maybe just a bit too quick?) were the mains - liver and chicken curry. Both of the mains were £8.50. Same generous portions with the liver being described as 'marvelous. The only constructive comment we can make is that the chicken curry, although well cooked, was more of a casserole than a curry. A little on the sweet side for my taste and needed more spice and sauce. There are specials on the chalk board which seemed to be available in small or main size portions - we thought this was a great idea as we are now well educated in the portion size department! Oh, and check out the water pump in the ladies loo....(gents, believe me it's unusual).
Great find, will defo be back.
